Job Summary Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, event setup, facility operations, and customer service work in support of the Canyon County Fair, The Center at Canyon County Fair, Fairgrounds facilities, and year-round rental events. Responsibilities include building maintenance, event setup and teardown, coordination with renters and vendors, operational support during events, and general upkeep of Fairgrounds facilities and equipment. This position reports to the Fair Director and works in indoor and outdoor environments, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during the annual Fair. Duties may involve working at heights, operating equipment, lifting heavy materials, and working in varying weather conditions Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair
Performs scheduled maintenance, repair, and installation work on electrical, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing systems Performs general building maintenance, remodeling, repair, and upkeep of Fairgrounds facilities and rental venues Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical and plumbing systems Performs painting and graffiti removal duties Performs maintenance and repair work on restrooms and facilities Welds and fabricate metal structures and systems as needed Assists with preventative maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, and event equipment Assists with grounds maintenance and snow removal as needed Repairs and replaces locks
Events & Rental Operations
Assists with setup and teardown for meetings, trade shows, banquets, livestock events, concerts, sporting events, and community events Sets up tables, chairs, signage, and other event equipment Assists renters, vendors, exhibitors, and event organizers with operational needs during events Monitors facilities during events to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with facility policies Responds to operational issues and customer service requests during events and Fair operations Assists with traffic flow, vendor access, deliveries, and facility logistics during events and Fair Supports Fair operations before, during, and after the annual Canyon County Fair
Other Duties:
Maintains work orders, setup diagrams, maintenance logs, and inventory records Assists other Facilities and Fair staff as needed Performs all work duties and activities following county policies, procedures, and safety practices All other duties as assigned
Qualifications Skills and Abilities:
Building trade skills, including but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, and electrical systems, welding and fabrication methods and techniques, and hand tools Operate power equipment, including but not limited to, drills, saws, rivet gun, grinder, and snow removal equipment Methods, materials, tools and standard practices regarding painting, plumbing, electrical, and construction and repair related to interior and exterior building maintenance, repair, and remodeling Knowledge of applicable electrical, plumbing, and construction codes, Federal (OSHA) regulations and county policies regarding safe work practices relating to use of power tools, ladders and power lifts, and hazardous chemicals Work cooperatively and constructively with fellow workers and members of the public to provide public service of the highest quality and quantity Follow written and oral instructions Prepare written reports, including work orders and maintenance logs
Communicate effectively with the public and other employees
Special Qualifications
Valid Idaho Driver’s License Must successfully complete a background investigation Become CPR and First Aid Certified
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalency required One to three years facility maintenance experience is preferred Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work may be considered
