Job Summary

This position collaborates with business stakeholders, solution engineers, product owners, UX designers, and Agile teams to design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end insurance solutions using Guidewire PolicyCenter and modern React-based digital applications. The role combines hands-on Guidewire configuration and integration development with front-end engineering skills in React, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST API integration, responsive user experiences, and automated testing. Experience with Guidewire Jutro Digital Platform, ProducerEngage, or other Guidewire digital applications is preferred. The developer delivers maintainable, secure, accessible, and production-ready functionality each sprint with support and limited guidance from senior developers, solution engineers, or architects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and configures Guidewire PolicyCenter components and React-based web applications to deliver end-to-end business functionality.
  • Translates business and user experience requirements into maintainable back-end, integration, and front-end components aligned with architectural direction and engineering standards.
  • Builds reusable React components, screens, forms, and workflows using modern JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or SCSS, and approved component libraries.
  • Integrates digital applications with Guidewire and enterprise services using REST APIs, Guidewire Cloud APIs, Digital SDKs where applicable, messaging, and secure authentication patterns.
  • Reviews and validates code, configuration, component design, automated tests, and supporting documentation produced by team members.
  • Develops secure and reliable application components with attention to performance, accessibility, error handling, observability, restart and recovery, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Performs impact assessments across business processes, data, Guidewire configuration, APIs, integrations, digital channels, and downstream systems before implementing changes.
  • Creates unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests and applies Test-Driven Development or Behavior-Driven Development practices where appropriate.
  • Supports implementation and release activities, troubleshoots environment and production issues across Guidewire and React applications, performs root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions.
  • Uses source control, code quality tools, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tooling to improve delivery quality and efficiency.
  • Provides limited technical guidance, knowledge sharing, code review support, and mentoring to junior team members when needed.

Requirements

Guidewire Technical Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, or a related technology field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, including configuration and integration development.
  • Experience configuring PolicyCenter product model, business rules, workflows, user interface components, data model extensions, and validation logic using Gosu and Guidewire standards.
  • Experience developing PCF components, business rules, data model extensions, plugins, and automated unit tests such as GUnit tests.
  • Experience integrating PolicyCenter with digital portals and enterprise systems using REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, message queues, plugins, and batch processes.
  • Working knowledge of Guidewire Cloud or SaaS delivery practices, including automated build, test, deployment, environment support, and application monitoring.
  • Advanced Product Designer experience is preferred.
  • Property and casualty insurance knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, policy transactions, and integration touchpoints.

React and Digital Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing production web applications using React and modern JavaScript; TypeScript experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of React functional components, hooks, component composition, state management, routing, reusable design patterns, and front-end error handling.
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, SCSS or CSS modules, browser developer tools, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs, handling asynchronous operations, transforming JSON payloads, and implementing authentication and authorization in web applications.
  • Experience writing front-end unit and component tests using tools such as Jest and React Testing Library; experience with end-to-end automation is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js, npm, package and dependency management, bundling or build tooling, linting, code formatting, and front-end CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to apply accessibility, internationalization, performance, security, and responsive design practices to customer- and producer-facing applications.
  • Experience working with UX designers and translating Figma designs or design-system specifications into reusable, accessible React components.
  • Experience with Guidewire Jutro Framework (Producer Engage or JDP) is a plus.

Agile Delivery and Collaboration

  • Writes and refines user stories with clear technical tasks and acceptance criteria covering Guidewire, API, React, and integration changes; estimates work and identifies delivery risks.
  • Partners with Product Owners, UX designers, solution engineers, and QA team members to confirm that implementation and tests reflect intended business and user experience outcomes.
  • Participates in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities.
  • Commits to team PI objectives and sprint goals, communicates progress and impediments, and takes ownership of assigned deliverables.
  • Practices continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps.
  • Demonstrates integrated PolicyCenter and digital functionality to Product and Business Owners and supports iteration and PI System Demos.
  • Shares Guidewire and React engineering practices, contributes to Communities of Practice, and supports continuous improvement and development of T-shaped skills.

  • Strong ownership and accountability for individual and team deliverables, including timely identification and correction of gaps.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity, changing priorities, and multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Working knowledge of software design principles, object-oriented and component-based programming, defensive coding, error handling, version control, database concepts, SQL, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to train and mentor others in areas of expertise and provide constructive technical guidance.

Education and Certification Requirements

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
