The Role🚀

Over the next 12 months, we want to triple our ability to build great products for our customers and become an AI-first business. Our CEO is personally sponsoring this as a company priority. We’re looking for someone to lead it for our Product and Engineering teams.

As Head of AI Engineering & Enablement, you'll own how Capital on Tap uses AI to design, build, test and ship software. You'll set AI strategy across Product and Engineering, lead a small, elite AI Enablement team, and work hand in hand with every product team to change how they work, not just which tools they use. You'll report to our CTO and work closely with our CEO.

What You’ll Be Doing 🗃️

  • Set the plan: In your first 30 days, baseline how fast and how well we build today. Then set out a 12-month plan to triple it, with clear measures the leadership team tracks.
  • Rebuild how we ship: Redesign our software delivery lifecycle around agentic AI, from spec through code, review, testing and release, and make it the default in every product team.
  • Own the AI engineering stack: Lead decisions on AI developer tooling, model access, AI gateway and evaluation, balancing capability, cost and vendor independence.
  • Move fast, safely: Partner with InfoSec, Data Protection, Risk and Compliance to set guardrails that let us move quickly in an FCA-regulated business.
  • Run the team: Lead our AI Enablement team to change how we build

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months 📅

  • We're delivering roughly three times the customer value per quarter, against the baseline you set
  • AI-native ways of working are the default in every product and engineering team, not a side project
  • Robust, auditable guardrails our risk and compliance teams trust
  • A team and playbook that keep compounding without you in the room

We’re Looking For 🔎

  • You've led an AI-driven transformation in how a product and engineering organisation builds software, with measurable results to show for it.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and LLM-based workflows. You still build platforms and systems, and you have strong opinions on where these tools work and where they don't.
  • You've built and led high-performing engineering teams on strong technical foundations. C#/.NET and Azure experience is a big plus
  • Bonus points for experience with introducing agentic AI into infrastructure, observability and data pipelines
  • Commercial judgement to think in cost, ROI and customer outcomes, plus experience in a regulated environment designing controls that enable rather than block
