Position Overview

The Pleat Folder 1 (material handler) is responsible for folding all finished draperies using a fan fold machine. This role ensures that products are neatly and accurately folded according to quality standards, preparing them for the next stage of processing.

What you'll do

  • Receive finished drapery from the Drapery Inspector
  • Review the work ticket to determine whether the drapery is a panel or a pair; if a panel, identify if it is a left or right panel
  • Place finished drapery onto the Hanger Arm of the Fan Fold machine
  • Align drapery pleats between the Fan Fold fingers for proper folding
  • Apply paper bands to the hanging drapery
  • Label the drapery with measurements and side designation (e.g., left/right panel)
  • Remove the banded drapery from the Fan Fold machine and send it to the Pin & Clip station
  • If memory stitching is required, ensure correct alignment, apply white clips to the bottom, and send to Memory Stitch
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all facility safety rules and regulations
  • Report any unsafe practices or conditions to your supervisor promptly
  • Help maintain a safe work environment by addressing unsafe behaviors and encouraging safe practices among coworkers
  • Notify management of any repeated safety violations by other employees
  • Properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any defective or damaged PPE
  • Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, or illnesses, including musculoskeletal symptoms or disorders
  • Ensure work tickets with pins are securely fastened to draperies to prevent injury
  • Exercise caution around inspection machines, which move up and down—stay alert to avoid potential head injuries
  • Secure long hair, remove long jewelry, and ensure fingernails are no longer than 1" when operating inspection machines
  • Keep hands clear of air clamps on hang and inspect racks before activating the air switch
  • Return all tools and equipment to their designated areas at the end of your shift
  • Request assistance when lifting heavy or lined draperies; never attempt to lift alone if the load is too heavy
  • Move racks with extra caution due to the tight spacing in the work area, minimizing the risk of injury
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times—perform daily housekeeping during the last 10 minutes of your shift
  • Dispose of trash in the designated areas for daily pickup
  • Know your department’s Emergency Evacuation Route and be prepared in case of an emergency
  • Promptly report any unsafe conditions in any area of Carole Fabrics to your supervisor

Who you are

  • High school graduate
  • Able to use and read a tape measure
  • General knowledge of fabrics
  • Ability to use production equipment
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Successfully pass color blind test
  • Accuracy with names, numbers and spelling
  • Capable of standing for extended periods of time
  • Capable of lifting on a continuous basis
  • Strong attention to details
  • Follow written and verbal instructions

What's in it for you?

  • Annual base salary range: $15.00 hourly
  • Generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability
  • A company culture that prioritizes internal development and professional growth
  • Time off with pay
  • 401(k) plan with a degree of employer matching

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
