About This Role

The Area General Manager provides overall leadership for Automated Logic's Field business across Syracuse and the Central/Upstate New York territory. This leader is responsible for establishing and executing the localized area business strategy, delivering financial and operational results, strengthening client relationships across institutional and commercial sectors, and building an engaged, accountable, and inclusive organization.

The Area General Manager will lead a multi-site regional business spanning sales, operations, service, project execution, and supporting functions. Working closely with branch managers, project teams, and cross-functional partners, this individual will translate enterprise priorities into focused local market actions that drive sustainable growth, consistent execution, and an exceptional customer experience.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an experienced business leader who is energized by developing people, driving market share across higher education, healthcare, and industrial sectors, and delivering operational results across the Syracuse/Upstate NY area.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Business

  • Develop and execute the local area strategy in alignment with Automated Logic and Carrier business priorities.
  • Own the area’s overall financial and operational performance, including growth, profitability, productivity, cash flow, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Establish clear area priorities, operating rhythms, performance expectations, and accountability across local offices and functional teams.
  • Evaluate local market conditions, institutional facility investments, regional building trends, and operational data to identify risks and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure area resources and investments are aligned with the areas of greatest customer and business impact.

Drive Profitable Growth

  • Lead the development and execution of area growth strategies across new construction, controls, building automation, retrofits, service, and recurring customer relationships.
  • Strengthen commercial execution, sales effectiveness, pipeline development, account planning, and margin discipline within the Upstate New York market.
  • Build strong executive-level relationships with key customers, higher education institutions, healthcare networks, general contractors, engineering firms, and channel partners.
  • Partner with sales and branch leadership to expand existing key accounts, target regional modernization projects, and grow local market share.
  • Promote cross-branch coordination across the Syracuse/Central NY territory to leverage local talent, technical capabilities, and customer relationships.

Deliver Operational Excellence

  • Ensure consistent execution of projects and service commitments, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, productivity, and project margins.
  • Partner with operations leaders to optimize project planning, labor management, local field subcontractor scheduling, risk management, and execution.
  • Monitor area operating performance and intervene quickly when project milestones, customer commitments, or financial objectives are at risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational standardization while maintaining flexibility to respond to regional customer requirements.
  • Promote the effective use of business systems, field data, and performance metrics to drive fast, informed decision-making.

Build the Best Team

  • Select, develop, coach, and retain strong branch, operational, and functional leaders across the Syracuse market.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, safety, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide timely coaching, feedback, recognition, and professional development.
  • Lead area talent reviews, workforce planning, succession planning, and local technical workforce development.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure the organization maintains the skills, technical certifications, and staffing required to support regional growth.

Champion Customers, Safety, and Compliance

  • Maintain executive relationships with key regional accounts and serve as the primary senior escalation point for critical customer matters in the Syracuse area.
  • Translate customer feedback into practical operational improvements in sales, engineering, installation, and ongoing maintenance services.
  • Champion a strong culture of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), ethical leadership, and absolute regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure area operations adhere to New York state laws, regional building efficiency regulations, contractual commitments, and Carrier policies.
  • Model sound judgment, personal accountability, integrity, and respect in every aspect of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • General Management Leadership: 2+ years of progressive leadership experience in general management, field operations, commercial sales, project execution, or service management.

  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% locally/regionally within the designated Syracuse and Upstate New York territory to perform job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
