As the town's original school, we are proud of our rich history and the strong relationships we have built with our families and wider community. We are committed to ensuring every child can thrive academically, socially and personally through our core values of Respect, Determination and Aspiration.

We are looking for a motivated and capable School Business Manager to join our team and play a key leadership role in supporting the continued development and success of the school. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a school that is committed to providing the very best opportunities for its children, whilst working alongside a dedicated and supportive staff team.

As part of the Ridgeway Education Trust (RET), you will benefit from the support of a strong central Trust team and will work closely with fellow school business professionals across the Trust, sharing expertise and best practice.

In partnership with the RET School Business Lead, you will play a key role in both the strategic and operational leadership of the school's non-teaching functions, including finance, HR, site management, health and safety, and administration.

Working closely with the Headteacher and Trust central teams, you will ensure that effective systems and processes are in place to support the school's priorities and contribute to the wider success of the Trust. You will also collaborate with school business professionals across the MAT, fostering consistency, efficiency and shared learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate HR processes, recruitment and payroll administration in conjunction with Trust HR.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, data protection requirements and other statutory responsibilities.
  • Work in partnership with the Trust's central finance, estates and HR teams.
  • Support income generation opportunities and value-for-money procurement.
  • Oversee the wraparound provision.
  • Manage administrative, and premises staff and have oversight of their work and responsibilities
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the school and the continual improvement of operational services.

We're Looking for Someone Who

  • Has excellent organisational and leadership skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Possesses strong financial and business management skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with staff, families and external partners.
  • Has a proactive and flexible approach, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing to a positive school culture.
  • Shares our commitment to providing an inclusive environment where every child is valued and supported to achieve their potential.
  • Will champion the school's values of Respect, Determination and Aspiration.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to make a significant impact in a welcoming and inclusive primary school.
  • Strong support from the Trust's School Business Lead and experienced central services teams.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the Ridgeway Education Trust.
  • Ongoing professional development and access to a strong support network.
  • A dedicated leadership team committed to staff wellbeing and development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
