The posting

  • We're leading an AI-powered engineering transformation at scale.
  • You have full-stack .NET, React, cloud and DevOps expertise.
  • Together we reinvent home lending for millions of customers.

Do work that matters:

Within the Manage & Own Crew in CBA’s Digital Home Buying Domain, you'll play a key role in shaping the technology behind one of the most important financial journeys in our customers’ lives. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll leverage your full stack expertise across .NET, ASP.NET Core, React and Next.js to design, build and evolve scalable, secure and high-performing applications that help customers manage their home loans with confidence.

This is a true end-to-end engineering role where you'll take ownership of solutions from discovery and design through to development, deployment and ongoing support. With a strong "you build it, you own it" mindset, you'll be empowered to make technical decisions, solve complex challenges and ensure the products you deliver continue to perform, scale and create value long after they reach production.

Working closely with engineers, product teams and business stakeholders, you'll help deliver resilient digital experiences used by millions of customers across Australia. As a senior member of the team, you'll contribute to solution design, champion engineering excellence and provide technical guidance to peers while remaining highly hands-on in the code. You'll take accountability for software quality, reliability, observability and continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance both customer and engineering outcomes. Every feature you own, from inception through to operation, will directly contribute to CBA's vision of building tomorrow's bank today.

See yourself in our team:

At CommBank, technology powers every customer experience, and few journeys are more meaningful than helping Australians manage and own their homes. As part of the Manage & Own Crew within the Home Lending Lifecycle, you'll build the digital experiences and platforms that support customers long after settlement, helping them navigate one of life's biggest financial decisions with confidence. Backed by CBA's world-class technology division, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering, data, AI and digital innovation, delivering highly scalable, secure and customer-centric solutions that impact millions of customers across the country.

This is a team that truly owns what it builds. Operating with a full-stack, full-lifecycle engineering model, you'll be involved in everything from architecture and design through to deployment, observability and continuous improvement. Leveraging AI-powered engineering practices, the crew is redefining how software is delivered by increasing quality, accelerating innovation and enabling engineers to focus on higher-value problem solving.

If you're looking for a role where you can shape the future of digital home lending, work with talented engineers at scale, and see your ideas translate into real customer outcomes, this is the team that will elevate your career and expand what's possible.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have strong experience building and delivering full-stack applications using .NET / ASP.NET Core, React and Next.js, with a focus on code quality, performance, accessibility and maintainability.
  • Thrive in full-cycle engineering, taking ownership from ideation and problem definition through solution design, build, deployment, operation and continuous improvement.
  • Build and own secure, scalable APIs and backend services in .NET, applying modern software engineering practices, domain-driven design principles and performance optimisation techniques.
  • Deliver modern web experiences using React and Next.js, leveraging reusable component patterns, responsive design principles and front-end performance best practices.
  • Are comfortable working in Agile, CI/CD and DevSecOps environments, contributing to automation, observability, operational excellence and reliable production outcomes.
  • Take ownership of solutions in production, using monitoring, telemetry and customer feedback to identify opportunities, resolve issues and continuously improve services.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, testing and delivery while maintaining high standards of security, quality and maintainability.
  • Understand the risks associated with AI-generated outputs, including inaccurate code, vulnerabilities and dependency risks, and apply appropriate validation, testing and review practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers and designers to solve complex customer problems, share knowledge and deliver high-quality outcomes as part of a high-performing team.

Tech skills:

We don't expect you to know everything, but experience in several of the following will set you up for success:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
