Automated Finance: Delivery – Manager

CFGI’s Automated Finance practice delivers transformative finance and accounting solutions by managing ongoing operations below the CFO level. We partner with clients to execute and optimize finance functions, streamline processes, enhance reporting, and enable faster, data-driven decision-making. Our team combines hands-on accounting delivery with advanced technologies, including AI and automation, to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality across core controllership activities such as daily accounting operations, financial close, and reporting.

As a Manager in our Automated Finance Delivery practice, you will play a key role in leading day-to-day accounting delivery, managing client relationships, and improving finance operations. You will work directly with client stakeholders while leading team members responsible for recurring accounting and controllership activities and helping build more efficient, scalable finance operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of Automated Finance engagements across assessment, transition, and ongoing finance and accounting delivery.
  • Serve as a key client partner throughout outsourced controllership and ongoing accounting-service initiatives.
  • Lead day-to-day delivery across core controllership activities, including accounting operations, financial close, general ledger accounting, and reporting.
  • Oversee recurring accounting processes and ensure transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and close activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Drive process improvements across procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, and related finance functions.
  • Collaborate directly with client leadership to address accounting and operational challenges and develop actionable solutions.
  • Design and implement operational and financial reporting, dashboards, and data models to support KPI tracking and management insights.
  • Leverage finance technologies, AI, automation, and reporting tools to improve the scalability and efficiency of delivery.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional CFGI and client teams to support seamless execution and client satisfaction.
  • Review team deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coach and guide junior team members while establishing clear expectations and accountability for recurring accounting responsibilities.
  • Stay current on relevant finance, accounting, operational, and technology developments that may inform client solutions.
  • Participate in recruiting, client relationship development, practice initiatives, and business-development efforts.

What you must have

  • 5–9 years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting/audit, accounting advisory, outsourced accounting, Automated Finance, shared services, or a comparable accounting environment, including meaningful experience owning or delivering recurring accounting and controllership operations.
  • At least 1 year of external audit experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Experience leading accounting or finance workstreams involving recurring financial close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, or related controllership activities.

What sets you apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience applying U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements within accounting operations, financial reporting, audit, or advisory environments.
  • Experience directly managing ongoing accounting operations through multiple month-end and year-end close cycles.
  • Experience leading teams responsible for recurring accounting execution, transaction processing, reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, or related controllership activities.
  • Experience improving procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report, or related finance processes.
  • Experience managing client-facing engagements or workstreams and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Experience addressing accounting issues and translating findings into practical, actionable solutions.
  • Experience supervising, reviewing, or developing junior accounting or finance professionals.
  • Demonstrated progression in accounting or finance responsibilities and sustained ownership of recurring processes or client work over time.

Nice to have

  • CPA, MBA, CFA, or another relevant professional credential.
  • Experience with finance technologies, ERP platforms, data visualization, AI, automation, or workflow tools.
  • Experience in Automated Finance, outsourced controllership, shared services, or another recurring accounting-delivery environment.
  • Experience designing operational or financial reporting, dashboards, data models, or KPI frameworks.
  • Experience supporting transitions of accounting activities into an outsourced, standardized, or technology-enabled operating model.
  • Experience supporting proposals, client expansion opportunities, recruiting, or other business-development initiatives.

Who thrives here

  • Strong client-service orientation with the ability to establish credibility with finance and accounting stakeholders.
  • Balances hands-on accounting knowledge with the ability to lead teams and improve processes.
  • Able to communicate accounting and operational concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple recurring deadlines and client priorities.
  • Analytical and practical, with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Collaborative and willing to coach others while remaining accountable for delivery.
  • Interested in building long-term client relationships and developing deeper responsibility over time.
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated by building scalable accounting solutions in a growing practice.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
