Position Title:        Ski Instructor-in-Training (Seasonal Volunteer Position) Department:          Recreation (Snow School) Reports to:            Manager, Recreation or designate   Our Mission: Offer unique and memorable experiences through fun-filled programs, activities, and events!   Job Summary: The Ski Instructor-in-Training (IIT) Program blends volunteer work with hands-on learning to help prepare individuals for the Professional Ski Instructors of Canada (PSIC) Level 1 certification. Participants will volunteer while taking part in a 9-week instructional course (registration required), working closely with a senior instructor to develop teaching skills, technical knowledge, and customer service experience.   IITs assist with children’s ski and snowboard programs, help in the rental shop, greet guests, and provide general support to Snow School operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with kids, love skiing or snowboarding, and are interested in becoming certified instructors.   Program Commitment:

Cost of program see link below. Registering in the program with Guest Services Participation in a weekly 1 hour 20 minute lesson Minimum of 81 volunteer hours (approx. 9 hours per week), beginning January 2, 2027 through March Break Opportunity for Chicopee to cover the cost of the PSIC Level 1 certification exam (subject to terms & conditions) See https://www.chicopee.ca/lessons/ski-instructor-in-training

  Roles and Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety and well-being of students during lessons and on lifts Support certified instructors during children's ski and snowboard lessons Assist with equipment fitting and operations in the rental shop Greet and assist patrons as they arrive Attend pre-season training and adhere to uniform standards Support other departments as needed, based on operational demands Be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and school breaks (Christmas and/ March Break)

  Key Qualifications:

Minimum age: 14 years by end of current year Enrolled in the Ski IIT program through Guest Services Confidently ski/snowboard all runs at Chicopee Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Strong communication and interpersonal skills Able to work both independently and as part of a team Physically capable of lifting up to 45 lbs (20.4 kg) Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Bilingualism considered an asset 

  Additional Requirements:

Passion for recreation and youth development Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor Flexible availability based on business needs Must supply your own certified ski/snowboard helmet (CSA Z263.1, ASTM F2040, EN 1077, or Snell RS 98 compliant) Willingness to comply with all uniform and dress code You have, or can use our Human Resource platform to obtain, the following certificates: WHMIS; Ladder Safety; Ontario Health & Safety Awareness (OHSA); Workplace Violence & Harassment (Bill 168 & 132); Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA); IASR: Information and Communications Standards and Employment Standards; Understanding Human Rights; Safe Lifting; Gender and Sexual Diversity; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB); Safe Food Handling (for Food and Beverage Employees) Training

  Background Check:

A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is required if you are 18 years of age or older.
