Job Summary We're looking for an Associate Tooling Design Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions that support the production and repair of advanced aerospace components. In this role, you'll serve as a technical contributor, partnering with cross-functional teams to transform engineering concepts into manufacturable solutions while driving process improvements, product launches, and operational excellence. Location: Onsite, Phoenix, AZ What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions for new and existing aerospace components. Own technical aspects of assigned projects from concept through production implementation. Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using NX or similar CAD software. Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. Conduct reverse engineering activities using visual inspection, dimensional analysis, 3D scanning, and measurement technologies. Develop and support CNC programming and manufacturing processes used in tooling fabrication and production. Evaluate tooling designs for manufacturability, operator usability, durability, and process efficiency. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and other team members. Support new product introduction (NPI) initiatives and manufacturing readiness activities. Analyze tooling fabrication costs, project schedules, and technical risks to support business objectives. Present technical recommendations, project updates, and design solutions to internal and external stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance tooling performance, manufacturing efficiency, and product quality.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience designing tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, or aerospace components in a manufacturing environment. Strong CAD modeling and drawing creation skills, preferably using NX. Experience with CNC manufacturing processes and CAM programming. Knowledge of reverse engineering methodologies and measurement technologies, including CMMs, optical scanning, and precision inspection tools. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements. Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Nice to Have
Experience supporting gas turbine, aerospace, or aircraft engine component manufacturing. Working knowledge of casting, machining, repair, or other aerospace manufacturing processes. Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and tooling applications. Familiarity with FAA regulations and aerospace quality requirements. Experience performing metallurgical, mechanical property, or component performance evaluations. Prior experience leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, or supporting product readiness initiatives
