ROLE:

Lead business user acceptance testing (UAT) activities supporting the implementation of Guidewire PolicyCenter and related systems for commercial property and casualty insurance operations. This role serves as the primary coordinator between business and technology teams to ensure system functionality aligns with approved business requirements and operational needs.

The Guidewire UAT Lead is responsible for establishing the structure, governance, processes, and reporting necessary to successfully execute UAT activities across multiple products and business functions. This position works closely with underwriting, insurance product, technology product, quality assurance, and implementation teams to define requirements, develop testing strategies, manage testing execution, facilitate issue resolution, and ensure business readiness prior to production deployment. The role provides leadership and influence across cross-functional teams without direct supervisory authority.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead UAT strategy, planning, preparation, execution, and completion for Guidewire PolicyCenter and related integrations supporting commercial property and casualty insurance products.
  • Partner with underwriting, insurance product, technology product, business analysis, quality assurance, development, and implementation teams to establish UAT scope, schedules, resource requirements, entry and exit criteria, and business sign-off expectations.
  • Facilitate working sessions with underwriting and product subject matter experts to define and refine business requirements, workflows, referrals, product rules, and expected system behavior.
  • Translate approved business requirements into acceptance criteria, end-to-end business scenarios, test cases, test scripts, expected outcomes, and reusable regression testing assets.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive UAT framework, including test inventories, traceability documentation, readiness assessments, tester assignments, schedules, execution tracking, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and lead business subject matter experts and UAT participants by assigning work, clarifying expectations, monitoring progress, and addressing resource constraints, dependencies, and testing gaps.
  • Coordinate test environments, system access, test data, integrations, documentation, and other prerequisites required to support successful testing execution.
  • Lead testing activities across policy lifecycle functions including submission, quote, underwriting, referral, rating, bind, issue, endorsement, renewal, cancellation, reinstatement, and associated integrated systems.
  • Validate configured workflows, screens, rating logic, product rules, documents, integrations, and migrated data to ensure compliance with approved business and operational requirements.
  • Document, assess, prioritize, track, and communicate defects, requirement gaps, and testing issues while coordinating appropriate resolution activities with business and technology teams.
  • Coordinate corrective actions, retesting, regression testing, and issue closure to ensure successful implementation outcomes.
  • Develop and communicate testing status, defect trends, risk assessments, readiness evaluations, dependencies, and recommendations to project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Facilitate business review and acceptance activities and support final business sign-off decisions based on testing outcomes, acceptance criteria, and residual risk evaluation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of UAT methodologies, testing standards, documentation practices, and governance processes to support future technology implementations.
  • Support organizational readiness by identifying operational impacts, process changes, and training considerations associated with new system functionality.
  • Build collaborative relationships across business and technology teams and provide leadership through influence, coordination, and effective communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; degree emphasis in insurance, risk management, information technology, business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Five or more years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience in policy administration, business analysis, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, or a related discipline. Experience spanning underwriting, insurance product management, and technology product functions is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business user acceptance testing efforts for complex enterprise system implementations, modernizations, or migrations.
  • Experience defining and documenting business requirements, workflows, acceptance criteria, business scenarios, test scripts, expected results, and regression testing materials.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance operations and policy lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into structured testing methodologies and repeatable test conditions.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and lead work across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, dependencies, and competing business needs in a fast-paced transformation environment.
  • Guidewire PolicyCenter experience strongly preferred. Experience with policy administration platforms, testing tools, defect management systems, agile delivery methodologies, and related insurance industry designations is preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn and apply new technologies and tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Professional office environment.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with in-office days Tuesday through Thursday in Merrill, Madison, or Milwaukee.
  • Fully remote work may be considered for candidates outside commuting distance.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support project planning, testing activities, training, or implementation efforts.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
