Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript | React | AWS | AI)

Job Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer at CI&T, you will serve as the technical lead within a cross-functional project team, taking ownership of the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of modern full-stack solutions. You will work across a serverless AWS back-end, React and Next.js front-end, and Drupal-based content platform, while driving technical direction, engineering standards, and solution architecture.

You will also lead the adoption of AI-driven engineering by building and orchestrating AI agents that improve development speed, testing, support, and operational efficiency. As a trusted technical partner to the client, you will mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, solve complex engineering challenges, and drive continuous improvement across the project.

Required Technical Stack

Core Tech Stack: TypeScript | Node.js | React | Next.js | AWS | AI Agents | REST APIs | CI/CD

  • TypeScript / JavaScript – Strong experience with modern development practices and patterns
  • Node.js – Extensive experience developing scalable back-end applications and RESTful APIs
  • React / Next.js – Strong experience building modern, responsive front-end applications
  • AWS – Experience with Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, SQS, IAM, WAF, Secrets Manager, SSM, and CloudWatch
  • AI Agents – Experience building, orchestrating, or integrating AI agents into software solutions or engineering workflows
  • API Security – Experience with Lambda authorizers, JWT authentication, API keys, and usage plans
  • Infrastructure as Code – AWS CDK and SAM/CloudFormation
  • Testing – Jest, Playwright, Cypress, and automated testing practices
  • API Development – Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman
  • CI/CD – GitHub Actions and DevOps practices
  • Monorepo – Turborepo with npm workspaces or Yarn

Key Accountabilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence

  • Lead the technical direction of the project and contribute to architecture and design decisions across the full technology stack
  • Translate business and client requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
  • Lead technical planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and task breakdown
  • Identify and manage technical debt, risks, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and lead troubleshooting and resolution
  • Establish coding standards, code review practices, testing strategies, and engineering best practices
  • Drive application performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
  • Evaluate new technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives that improve engineering quality and delivery

Full-Stack Development & Implementation

  • Design, develop, and maintain serverless back-end services and RESTful APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, AWS Lambda, and API Gateway
  • Implement secure API access patterns using Lambda authorizers, JWT authentication, API keys, and usage plans
  • Build search and data capabilities using Amazon OpenSearch Serverless, SQS, and S3
  • Develop responsive front-end applications using React, Next.js, and MUI
  • Work within a Turborepo monorepo using npm workspaces or Yarn
  • Contribute to and support Drupal 10 and PHP 8.3, including SAML SSO integrations and platform upgrades
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and production-ready code
  • Support enhancements and maintenance across existing full-stack applications and technical systems

AI Agents & Automation

  • Design, build, and orchestrate AI agents that automate and accelerate development, testing, support, and operational workflows
  • Integrate AI capabilities into project solutions and internal engineering tools in a secure, reliable, and cost-effective manner
  • Establish guidelines and best practices for responsible AI adoption within the engineering team
  • Measure and continuously improve the impact of AI-driven engineering initiatives
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members on AI-assisted engineering practices

Development Standards & Best Practices

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, code review practices, and quality assurance procedures
  • Lead code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve overall code quality
  • Define and implement testing strategies across unit, integration, end-to-end, and load testing
  • Apply security best practices across authentication, secrets management, IAM, and network protection
  • Consider performance, scalability, reliability, and cost in technical decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement across development processes, tooling, and engineering practices

Cloud, DevOps & Operations

  • Provision and manage cloud resources using AWS CDK and SAM/CloudFormation
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Lead release management and deployment activities across environments
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ensure application observability and reliability through New Relic and CloudWatch
  • Lead post-deployment monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis
  • Drive preventive actions to improve system reliability and operational performance

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Mentor and coach junior and middle-level engineers through technical guidance, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Lead onboarding and knowledge transfer for new team members
  • Support continuous learning and adoption of modern engineering practices
  • Contribute to technical hiring, interviews, and assessments
  • Share expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, AWS, AI, and full-stack development

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client
  • Lead technical discussions, demonstrations, and solution proposals
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Communicate technical decisions, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and other stakeholders
  • Provide technical input on feasibility, timelines, dependencies, and project requirements
  • Build strong client relationships through technical excellence and effective communication

Strong hands-on experience in full-stack software development, TypeScript/Node.js, React/Next.js, AWS serverless technologies, API development, and modern engineering practices is expected. Experience building or orchestrating AI agents is also a key requirement for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Amazon OpenSearch or OpenSearch Serverless
  • Experience with PHP 8.x and Drupal 10
  • Experience with SAML SSO, PHPUnit, PHPStan, and PHPCS
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Experience with Storybook, Artillery, LaunchDarkly, FullStory, New Relic, or Pantheon
  • Experience working with international clients in distributed or remote teams
  • Experience with cloud-native and serverless architecture
  • Experience designing and optimizing distributed systems
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development and engineering automation
