Job Description

Sedgman is seeking an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to join our North American team, based in either Phoenix, USA or Vancouver, Canada.

At Sedgman, we deliver complex mineral processing projects supporting clients across the global resources and critical minerals sectors. As Senior HSEQ Advisor, you will play a key regional role supporting our projects and business activities across the Americas, providing practical HSEQ expertise from tender and project establishment through to execution and operations.

Reporting to the Group Manager HSE, you will act as a senior HSEQ resource within the region, working closely with regional leadership, project teams and HSEQ personnel to strengthen systems, manage risk, improve assurance and support consistent HSEQ performance.

This is a varied role combining hands-on project support with regional HSEQ governance. You will help establish new projects, conduct audits and assurance activities, support investigations and risk assessments, improve HSEQ systems and reporting, and coach project teams in the practical application of Sedgman requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Provide senior HSEQ advice and support to regional leadership, project teams and business development activities across the Americas.
  • Support the establishment and mobilisation of new projects, including development of HSEQ Management Plans, risk registers, procedures and readiness activities.
  • Conduct and coordinate HSEQ audits, inspections, reviews and assurance activities across regional projects and business operations.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant legislative, client and Sedgman HSEQ requirements and support the effective close-out of findings and corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of Sedgman HSEQ management systems, standards, procedures and tools.
  • Provide incident investigation support, including review of investigations, causal analysis, corrective actions and communication of lessons learned.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and support the management of significant HSEQ risks and critical controls.
  • Coordinate, analyse and report regional HSEQ performance information, identifying trends, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support project teams in establishing training and competency requirements and develop or deliver HSEQ awareness and training where required.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to HSEQ personnel, project leaders and employees in applying HSEQ systems and requirements.
  • Support subcontractor and supplier HSEQ prequalification, evaluation and assurance activities.
  • Support Sedgman's Quality Management System, including ISO auditing, compliance activities, document reviews and client contractor-management portals.
  • Support community, social and stakeholder commitments and engagement activities where required.
  • Travel to project and business locations across the Americas to provide project establishment, specialist, assurance or short-term HSEQ support

What we’re looking for:

  • You're an experienced HSEQ professional who combines strong technical knowledge with practical judgement and the confidence to operate independently across multiple projects and business priorities. You can engage effectively with people in the field as well as project managers, clients and senior business leaders
  • Degree, diploma or recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years' HSEQ experience in construction, mining, mineral processing, heavy industry or another high-risk environment.
  • Experience operating at a senior HSEQ advisory or supervisory level.
  • Knowledge of relevant Canadian and US HSEQ regulatory requirements, including familiarity with MSHA.
  • Experience supporting project establishment and mobilisation.
  • Strong capability in HSEQ risk management, assurance, auditing and incident investigation.
  • Strong communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The confidence to operate independently and provide practical HSEQ advice across multiple projects and priorities.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Americas.

Professional designations such as CSP, CRSP or equivalent, Lead Auditor qualifications across ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or ISO 9001, and MSHA trainer certification will be highly regarded.

Why Sedgman?

This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely regional HSEQ role and influence how Sedgman's projects are established and supported across North America.

You'll work across the project lifecycle, helping teams establish strong HSEQ foundations, solve practical challenges and continually improve how we manage risk, assurance, quality and performance.

If you're looking for more in your next move, you'll find it here: more opportunity to work across diverse projects, more impact through strong HSEQ systems and practical field support, more perspective through collaboration across Canada and the United States, and more purpose supporting the safe and responsible delivery of resources and critical minerals projects helping shape the future.

If you're ready for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you - Submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant HSEQ and project experience.

More in reach.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
