About Cipher Digital

We are an industrial-scale data center construction and operations company. We allocate data center opportunities between bitcoin mining and other high performance computing services, such as AI. We continue to develop our pipeline of power capacity at high quality data center sites, either for bitcoin mining or HPC. Our best-in-class management team leverages expertise from the technology, fintech, energy, and finance domains, as well as deep experience related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

Summary

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead and coordinate all electrical design disciplines and decisions across a portfolio of fast-track hyperscale data center projects.

This role is deeply embedded in project execution, responsible for reviewing detailed electrical designs, resolving complex technical issues, coordinating with contractors and utilities, and participating directly in project, vendor, and customer discussions.

Given the mission-critical nature of electrical systems in data centers, the ideal candidate has significant experience in both the design and operation of data centers, with a strong understanding of how design decisions impact construction, commissioning, reliability, and long-term operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Backup power systems (generators, UPS where applicable)
  • Grounding, bonding, and life safety interfaces
  • Coordinate electrical design across:
  • Concept
  • Schematic
  • Detailed design phases
  • Ensure alignment between electrical, mechanical, CSA, and technology systems

Drawing Review & Technical Oversight

  • Perform detailed reviews of:
  • Electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations

  • OEMs

External Consultant & EOR Management

  • Manage electrical Engineers of Record and specialty consultants
  • Review and approve deliverables for quality, completeness, and alignment with standards
  • Ensure external teams meet schedule and performance expectations

Standards, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Support development and refinement of:
  • Electrical design standards
  • Reference architectures
  • Redundancy and reliability philosophies
  • Incorporate lessons learned from:
  • Construction
  • Commissioning
  • Operations
  • Balance standardization with site-specific and utility-driven requirements

What Success Looks Like

  • Electrical designs are robust, buildable, and scalable
  • Fewer electrical RFIs, changes, and field conflicts
  • Smooth utility coordination and energization
  • Commissioning proceeds without major rework
  • Electrical standards improve delivery speed and reliability

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 12–18+ years of experience in:
  • Electrical engineering
  • Mission-critical or industrial power systems
  • Significant experience with:
  • Data center design and operations
  • High-density power environments
  • Proven ability to review and coordinate:
  • Complex electrical systems and drawings

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
