Role Overview

As a Managing Director and Senior Structurer in Commodities, you will work with the originators and regional sales /structuring team to originate and lead the origination, structuring, and execution of complex, bespoke commodity financing, risk-mitigation, and liquidity solutions, with dedicated strategic focus on expanding our footprint across North America . This front-office leadership role acts as a trusted senior advisor to corporate and sovereign clients, delivering high-impact structures—including prepayments, ownership/inventory monetization facilities, and liquidity swaps—while navigating transaction complexity with agility, intellectual rigor, and disciplined risk stewardship.

Primary Responsibilities

● Originate & Execute Complex Transactions: Lead the front-to-back deal identification, origination, commercial negotiation, and structuring of bespoke commodity transactions across energy, metals, and agricultural sectors for corporate and sovereign clients throughout North America and Latin America.

● Deliver Bespoke Structured Solutions: Design tailored working capital, inventory monetization, prepayment, structured hedging, and liquidity swap frameworks that solve complex client balance-sheet and risk-management objectives.

● Lead Cross-Functional Deal Teams: Drive multi-disciplinary execution working directly with Commodities Sales, Trading, Origination, Corporate Banking Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Legal, Logistics, Syndication, and Operations & Technology.

● Expand Americas Client Franchise: Spearhead regional business development by deepening engagement with existing Citi marquee accounts and proactively originating new client relationships across unpenetrated markets.

● Steward Risk & Capital Optimization: Ensure rigorous assessment of risk/reward, credit profiles, market exposure, reputational impact, and capital consumption across all proposed transaction structures.

● Foster Governance & Culture: Champion Citi’s culture of responsible finance, robust supervisory governance, ethical conduct, and collaborative meritocracy across the broader trading and structuring franchise.

What We Need from You

● Extensive Leadership Experience: Extensive experience in commodity structuring, structured trade finance, origination, or commodity derivatives, with a demonstrated tenure at the Managing Director level.

● Specialized Product Mastery: Deep technical and commercial expertise in ownership structures, structured commodity prepayments, supply-and-offtake facilities, inventory monetization, liquidity swaps, and syndicated risk-sharing structures.

● Americas Deal Track Record: Established network of corporate, sovereign, and sponsor contacts with proven deal origination and execution success across North America and Latin America.

● Multi-Stakeholder Leadership: Proven gravitas and collaborative influence to steer diverse deal teams, coordinate with regional sales desks, and align senior internal partners across Risk, Legal, Trading, and O&T.

● Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s or university degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field required; Master’s/MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

● Operational Readiness: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English (business fluency in Spanish or Portuguese advantageous for LatAm coverage); willingness to travel across the Americas region.
