Position Summary

The Market Manager, U.S. Community Relations (USCR), is a key member of Citi's Community Investing and Development (CID) team, which advances economic opportunity through impact investing, employee volunteerism, the philanthropy of the Citi Foundation, and the fulfillment of regulatory priorities, including the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in the U.S.

Reporting to the USCR West Regional Lead, the Market Manager will represent Citi in assigned Midwest markets, including Chicago, serving as a key connector between the firm and community stakeholders. The role advances community development and CRA priorities through strategic partnerships and local execution of CID and firmwide initiatives, helping position Citi as a trusted and impactful community partner.

Responsibilities

  • Support Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) priorities through community development service delivery, stakeholder engagement, documentation, reporting, and adherence to regulatory and firm requirements.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with community, nonprofit, and civic leaders in assigned markets.
  • Collaborate with Government Affairs, the Citi Foundation, and lines of business to strengthen community partnerships, deepen stakeholder engagement, and connect Citi's resources and expertise to local community needs.
  • Represent Citi at external meetings, conferences, community events, and civic forums to strengthen relationships, elevate the firm's visibility and advance strategic objectives.
  • Design and execute stakeholder convenings, sponsorship activations, executive engagements, and thought leadership opportunities that promote dialogue and highlight Citi's commitment to local communities.
  • Serve as the local market activation lead for CID and firmwide initiatives, including financial education programs, Global Community Day, Blueprint for Housing Opportunity activations, and other strategic community programming.
  • Generate community intelligence, stakeholder insights, and market analysis to inform strategic planning, community investment decisions, and external engagement strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and escalate emerging community, reputational, and stakeholder risks while partnering with senior leadership and internal teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze program outcomes, stakeholder feedback, and community-related market trends to measure impact, identify opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in community engagement, community development, public policy, philanthropy, government affairs, or public-private partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing, financial inclusion, workforce development, economic mobility, and related community issues.
  • Proven project management, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking abilities, with experience engaging executive, community, and nonprofit stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AI-enabled tools, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to align community initiatives with business, reputational, and regulatory objectives.
  • Experience building cross-sector partnerships that drive measurable community outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of the social, economic, and political landscape across Illinois and the Midwest.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
