The posting

Who We Are

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a global nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. With 30 years of internationally recognized expertise on climate policy and a fierce commitment to exploring all potential solutions, CATF is a pragmatic, non-ideological advocacy group with the bold ideas needed to address climate change. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

What You’ll Do

Program Context

CATF works to accelerate the solutions needed to achieve a zero-emissions future. As a leader within the Communications & Marketing team, this role sits at the intersection of audience growth, public engagement, and fundraising, helping connect more people to CATF's mission and impact.

The Director, Mass Market Acquisition and Engagement will lead the strategy for attracting, engaging, and retaining a broad base of mass market supporters while strengthening CATF's fundraising capacity and public influence. Working closely across Communications & Marketing, Development, Events, and program and advocacy teams, this role will build the systems, campaigns, and engagement pathways that help transform interest into action and long-term support.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a marketing professional who can combine strategy, execution, management, analytics, storytelling, and audience insight to expand CATF's reach and accelerate climate progress.

Responsibilities

  • Audience Growth Strategy – Develop and execute a comprehensive mass-market acquisition and engagement strategy that expands CATF's audience, supports fundraising goals, and strengthens long-term supporter growth.
  • Multi-Channel Marketing Leadership – Build and optimize acquisition programs across digital and emerging channels, including email, paid media, social platforms, search, events, and other audience development opportunities.
  • Fundraising & Revenue Growth – Create scalable donor acquisition and conversion strategies that increase fundraising performance and support key organizational campaigns and giving initiatives.
  • Audience Segmentation & Personalization – Leverage data, analytics, and audience insights to identify target segments and deliver relevant experiences that improve engagement, conversion, and retention outcomes.
  • Engagement Journey Design – Develop effective supporter pathways through content, automation, landing pages, and lifecycle marketing that deepen relationships and inspire meaningful action.
  • Marketing Performance & Optimization – Establish performance metrics and a testing culture that uses experimentation, analytics, and continuous improvement to strengthen results across the marketing funnel.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership – Collaborate closely with Communications & Marketing, Development, Events, Finance, and program teams to align messaging, audience priorities, fundraising efforts, and brand objectives.
  • Team & Vendor Leadership – Foster high-performing internal and external partnerships by providing strategic direction, coaching, and oversight to staff, agencies, consultants, and vendors.

What You'll Bring

You are a strategic and data-driven marketing leader who excels at connecting audiences to meaningful causes. You combine strong judgment with a collaborative leadership style, balancing long-term vision with practical execution. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy solving problems through experimentation and insight, and are energized by helping mission-driven organizations grow their impact.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing, audience acquisition, engagement, fundraising growth, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing full-funnel marketing strategies that drive measurable audience, engagement, and revenue outcomes.
  • Experience managing paid media programs and digital marketing channels, including audience acquisition, conversion optimization, retention, and lifecycle engagement.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience using performance metrics, segmentation, testing methodologies, and data-driven decision-making to improve results.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across communications, fundraising, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including managing, mentoring, and developing staff, agencies, consultants, or vendor partners.
  • Experience working with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms to support engagement and fundraising strategies.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leading nonprofit fundraising, digital fundraising, or donor acquisition programs.
  • Familiarity with climate, energy, advocacy, public policy, or other mission-driven sectors.
  • Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Braze, Iterable, Google Analytics, or comparable systems.
  • Exposure to lifecycle marketing, supporter stewardship, and donor retention strategies.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed or globally operating organizations.
  • Familiarity with emerging marketing technologies, automation tools, artificial intelligence applications, or advanced audience analytics.

What We Provide

Join a team working to accelerate climate solutions while helping build the public engagement and fundraising engine that supports CATF's global impact.

  • A mission-driven role supporting the growth of CATF's audience, influence, and fundraising capacity in the fight against climate change.
  • Exposure to cross-functional collaboration across Communications & Marketing, Development, Events, Finance, executive leadership, and program teams.
  • A collaborative and intellectually curious culture where diverse perspectives are valued and bold, practical solutions to climate change are encouraged.
  • A flexible remote working environment with the ability to work U.S. East Coast hours.
  • A competitive salary range of $145,000-$165,000 USD for U.S.-based employees. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and role alignment. Compensation for employees based outside the United States will be determined according to local market practices and CATF's global compensation framework.
  • An excellent benefits package and a competitive salary based on experience and location.
  • Benefits aligned to your country of employment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
