Clear Channel Outdoor

Job Summary:

The Industrial/Environmental Designer leads the design of the advertising programs Clear Channel Airports develops for its airport partners: not the ads themselves, but the complete media environment, including each program's overall theme, its ecosystem of physical and digital display assets, and the way those assets integrate into the terminal's architecture. This is a hands-on design role that takes programs from research and initial concept through presentation and coordination with engineering and fabrication partners. The role makes heavy use of AI-assisted design and visualization tools to create compelling visuals that help airport partners see exactly what their program can look like in their own terminals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs advertising display products and environments for airports, including various LED display formats, media features integrated into terminal architecture, immersive digital corridors, large-format display networks, and interactive sponsorship environments, from concept sketches through developed realistic design.
  • Conducts in-depth research into each airport's architecture, region, passenger profile, and identity, and uses that research to develop the program's overall theme and asset ecosystem, including the mix, placement, and design of displays across the terminal.
  • Produces high-quality renderings, elevations, and presentation materials, making heavy use of AI visualization tools, to help airport partners vividly see what their program can look like in support of proposals, business development, and design reviews.
  • Develops designs for displays that incorporate passenger information and services alongside advertising content, improving the traveler experience.
  • Coordinates with engineering, fabrication, and installation partners on dimensions, materials, structural considerations, code and accessibility requirements, and design intent through production.
  • Works with display and AV technology as part of the design process, including screen formats, viewing conditions, and the integration of digital content.
  • Manages multiple concurrent projects and deadlines across several airports, and travels to markets across the country for airport scouting trips, site visits, and surveys.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.

Work Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in industrial design or a closely related spatial design discipline, with a portfolio demonstrating strong three-dimensional design work required.
  • Experience using 3D modeling and rendering software, such as Rhino, SolidWorks, Blender, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, KeyShot, or comparable tools, to develop design concepts and visualizations required.
  • Familiarity with engineering or fabrication processes preferred.
  • Experience in environmental design or architecture, with projects involving branded environments, exhibits, signage and wayfinding, retail, or themed spaces preferred.
  • Experience specifying LED and LCD displays, integrating audiovisual (AV) systems, or working with digital signage preferred.
  • Experience designing for airports, transit, or out-of-home media; motion design or video skills preferred.

Skills

  • Able to produce polished presentation materials and explain design decisions to non-designers, including airport officials and executives.
  • Able to draw inspiration from a building or a place and design work that belongs there.

Competencies

  • Adaptability: Adjusting approach and priorities in response to new information, shifting deadlines, and the distinct needs of each airport partner.
  • Attention to Detail: Working in a conscientious, consistent, and thorough manner across dimensions, materials, and production details.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Generating original design concepts and embracing new tools and AI technologies that improve the quality and impact of the work.
  • Customer Focus: Anticipating and responding to the needs of airport partners and advertisers while enhancing the passenger experience.
  • Exemplifying Integrity: Treating others fairly, honestly, and respectfully, furthering the integrity of the organization and its relationships of trust with the broader community.
  • Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and effectively getting the message across.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
