Founding Product Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

A well-funded, early-stage fintech startup is looking for a Founding Product Engineer to join a small, senior team building a new kind of collaborative financial product. You'll have broad ownership across the stack, working directly with the founding team to ship high-quality, polished features for a consumer-facing application with a 40,000+ person waitlist.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design, develop, and deliver features, fixes, and improvements across the core product, marketing site, and internal tools.

- Take end-to-end ownership of major product areas — such as debit card functionality or internal risk assessment tooling — from concept through launch.

- Work closely with the founder, lead engineer, and designer to architect and implement solutions that delight users.

- Build and wire up APIs across a full stack of React, TypeScript, Go, and PostgreSQL.

- Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and contribute to a culture of high-quality engineering.

- Help scale the product to meet rapidly growing consumer demand.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

- Strong proficiency in TypeScript (React) on the front end and comfort with Go on the back end.

- Prior experience shipping and maintaining features for B2C / consumer-facing products.

- Solid experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.

- Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, and Docker for infrastructure and deployment.

- Experience building and integrating REST or GraphQL APIs.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment with broad ownership.

Nice to Have:

- Experience using AI coding assistants and prototyping tools to accelerate development.

- Background in fintech, payments, or financial services.

- Familiarity with tools like Slack, Linear, GitHub, and Figma.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary: $190,000 – $210,000 USD annually

- Early-stage equity

LOCATION

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates in Los Angeles, CA or New York City, NY may also be considered. Remote-only candidates will not be considered at this time.
