Senior Android Software Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Senior Android Software Engineer role on a small, product-focused team building a consumer fintech mobile app. You will work closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to create polished user experiences and drive meaningful outcomes for everyday people managing their finances.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Design, implement, and maintain a production Android application used by consumers.

- Assist in building and evolving platform-level architecture to support the app at scale.

- Pragmatically solve engineering problems, balancing quality with speed of delivery.

- Contribute to product design and direction decisions alongside cross-functional stakeholders.

- Communicate and collaborate effectively with product, engineering, and business teams.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- At least 5 years of mobile app development experience, with a minimum of 2 years shipping production Android apps professionally.

- Strong Kotlin expertise, with demonstrated experience using Jetpack Compose and modern architecture patterns such as MVVM or Clean Architecture.

- Experience building consumer-facing mobile applications, not exclusively B2B products.

- Proficiency with backend data formats and APIs common in mobile apps, including protobufs, REST, and gRPC.

- Experience integrating Firebase services such as Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, and Cloud Messaging.

- Solid Android testing skills across unit, instrumentation, and UI tests, plus experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile.

- Demonstrated mentorship or technical leadership experience guiding junior engineers.

- At least 3 years of experience working in a startup environment.

- Strong computer science fundamentals, ideally with a university background in a technical discipline.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary range: $160,000 to $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

LOCATION

On-site in San Francisco, California, USA. Candidates must already be local to San Francisco or Seattle to be considered.
