Summary

The Coordinator, Global Climate Strategies (GCS) provides critical operational, administrative, and basic project management support to advance the GCS team's strategic goals. Reporting directly to the Director, GCS Operations, this role serves as an essential operational anchor for the broader GCS team, ensuring smooth day-to-day team coordination, supporting key project initiatives, maintaining team data, and helping organize team meetings and retreats.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, a natural problem solver, and excited about leveraging modern productivity tools and systems to streamline operations and elevate overall team efficiency in support of high-impact climate work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership Support

  • Assist GCS Directors (Senior Director, Solutions; Senior Director, Impact-First Investing; and Director, GCS Operations) with complex, cross-team calendaring needs (in partnership and coordination with GCS Executive Assistant).
  • This role is not expected to manage the individual calendars of GCS leadership.
  • Support high-stakes correspondence from GCS Senior Directors to external GCS stakeholders, including being copied directly into scheduling threads.

Project Management Support

  • Provide general project management support for core GCS-led initiatives (e.g., NGO webinars, development of internal and external resources, research and report tracking).
  • Track project deliverables, maintain shared project tools, and help ensure team deadlines are met.

Team Operations Support & Optimization

  • In partnership with the Director, GCS Operations, and the GCS Executive Assistant, assist with planning and executing team meetings, retreats, and internal events, including building agendas, managing materials, and capturing action items.
  • Support the Director, GCS Operations with identifying operational bottlenecks and proactively recommending or building solutions to improve daily team processes.
  • Explore and implement modern digital tools and AI applications to streamline routine tasks, documentation, and administrative workflows.
  • Provide ad-hoc operational support across the GCS team as needed.

Data Maintenance & KMS Support

  • Support the Knowledge Management System (KMS) Analyst with ongoing data entry and database upkeep in Salesforce to ensure data quality and reliability.

Administrative Excellence: Detailed and organized; handles high-stakes calendars, complex travel, and data management with precision, efficiency, and a high degree of confidentiality.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong foundational administrative support and basic project management experience, preferably in a nonprofit, philanthropic, or fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of juggling multiple competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • High degree of discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • High proficiency with standard workplace suites (Google Workspace: Docs, Sheets, Slides etc.).
  • Experience or strong interest in leveraging AI tools to automate workflows, streamline administrative tasks, and write or structure communications.
  • Passion for and alignment with the organization’s climate mission and commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
  • Direct experience with relational databases/CRMs (e.g., Salesforce) for data entry, cleaning, or basic reporting is preferred but not required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience providing administrative, operations, or project support.

Salary Range: $100,000-$110,000

Work Environment

The Coordinator, GCS role is based at Climate Lead’s headquarters in San Francisco, CA which operates in a hybrid in-office environment. Staff in the San Francisco Bay Area currently work in the downtown office Tuesday through Thursday each week and typically work from a home location the other days.
