THE TEAM

The Data Engineering team owns the pipelines that bring data into the warehouse, the semantic layer that give the data consistent meaning across the org, and the tooling that lets business teams, analysts and AI agents actually use it. The customers are internal: operations, finance, product, and increasingly AI-assisted workflows that depend on reliable, well-governed data to function.

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON

- The pipelines that extract, load, and transform data from source systems into the warehouse

- The semantic layer: dbt models, Snowflake views, and structured knowledge files that codify how the org defines things like net revenue, verified shifts, and fill rate.

- Self-serve tooling that lets non-engineers find and use data

- Access control, PII/PHI provisioning, and compliance requirements that touch the data layer (HIPAA, SOC 2)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Engineers who do well here care about the downstream effect of their work. A pipeline that runs late or a metric that’s slightly wrong has a huge impact on other teams at the org. You should be comfortable owning infrastructure that other people depend on. You’re focused on reliability, access control, and data quality. The work spans pipelines, semantic modeling, and governance - you don’t need to be an expert in all of it, but you should be genuinely interested in the full scope rather than hoping to stay in one lane.

We use a straightforward TypeScript stack: React on the frontend with Ionic on mobile; our backend is Node/NestJS powered by MongoDB and Postgres.

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

When looking at candidates, their actual competencies matter more to us than what’s on your resumes. Because of that we make sure our assessments and interviews mirror real work that’s being done at Clipboard.

Here's what the process looks like:

1. Live technical interview (SQL focused), 60 min

2. Second live live technical interview (architecture design), 60 min

3. Hiring manager interview, 60 min

4. Final culture screen with our Head of People, 30 min

The process is written and async by design in order for you to get a feel for how we work in our remote culture.
