The posting

About us

Smart Nonsense Studio is a creative company built around video. We started with Smart Nonsense, a YouTube channel with over 3.5 million subscribers, and now run two businesses: an editor staffing business that places dedicated video editors with creators, brands, and agencies, and a creative agency that makes organic and paid social content, including for Fortune 500 brands. Video editing is our core strength, with about 150 editors in the Philippines, and our team also includes the producers, scriptwriters, and creative strategists of a full creative agency.

The role

Most of our clients find us through referrals. We want to build a second engine: outbound. You'll own it across both businesses, deciding who we go after, what we say, and which channels we use, then running the outreach and improving it based on results.

Our top priority is paid ads creative, and it's a new offer. We don't have a paid ads case study yet, and part of your job is figuring out who this offer is for. If you want a proven playbook handed to you, this isn't the role. If you want to help build something from the ground up, it is. Editor staffing is the opposite: a proven offer with a pitch that works, where the challenge is finding more of the right clients.

Part of the job is figuring out how we reach the right buyers: cold email, LinkedIn, referral partners like the investors in our network, content from our own channels, or approaches we haven't thought of. You'll decide what to try first, how long to give each test, and when to double down or move on.

You won't take sales calls; you'll book qualified meetings for our partner who runs them. You'll report directly to a business partner.

How we hire

We weigh how you think as heavily as what you've done. Outbound experience will help you, and we're looking for some, but we'd rather hire someone curious, sharp, and organized who wants to figure out what works for us than someone who arrives with a fixed playbook. Our hiring process is built to show us how you think.

What you'll do

  • Test hypotheses about who our paid ads offer is for, including conversations with target buyers, and narrow based on what you learn
  • Define our ideal clients for staffing and paid ads, and build targeted prospect lists
  • Write outbound messaging and sequences across email, LinkedIn, and other channels
  • Run outreach and follow-up consistently, and hand off qualified meetings with clear notes
  • Set up and maintain the tools behind it: CRM, prospecting data, and email deliverability
  • Choose which channels to test, set a clear success bar and timeline for each, track results weekly, and decide when to scale, adjust, or stop
  • Guide teammates who support outreach, and shape how they do it

What success looks like

  • In your first 90 days: you've tested two or three paid ads segments and chosen one based on evidence, tested two or three channels against clear success bars, and outbound is running for both businesses.
  • By 6 months: we know who our paid ads offer is for, qualified meetings come in steadily from outbound, and you've written a playbook others can run.

What we're looking for

  • Curious and quick to learn; you find the next thing to try without waiting to be told
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; you make progress when the answer isn't known yet
  • Strategic and creative: you find angles others miss, form hypotheses about who to target, and test them
  • A strong researcher: you find the right companies and decision-makers using tools like LinkedIn and the Meta Ad Library
  • A disciplined experimenter: you run a few focused tests with clear success criteria, rather than trying everything at once, and know what to change based on results
  • Highly organized; nothing falls through the cracks
  • Excellent written English; your outreach reads naturally to US founders and marketing leaders
  • Hands-on experience in outbound, lead generation, or growth, whether in strategy, execution, or both
  • Familiarity with paid social (Meta, TikTok, YouTube ads), or a real interest in learning it fast
  • Uses AI tools to learn new areas quickly, draft faster, and check the work
  • At least 2 hours a day of overlap with US Central mornings

Nice to have

  • Experience at an agency, creative, or B2B services company
  • Familiarity with the creator economy

Compensation

  • $2,000 to $3,000 USD per month base, depending on experience
  • Performance upside tied to new clients won through the outbound engine you build
  • Fully remote, with a budget for the tools you need

Hiring process

  1. Application, about 10 minutes. Your resume or LinkedIn, plus one short answer, under 100 words:
  2. Tell us about an outbound campaign you ran or worked on: who you targeted, what you sent, what happened, and what you'd do differently. Optional: share an outbound sequence you've written and the results it got.
  3. Short exercise, about 25 minutes, if shortlisted. Find 3 brands that fit our paid ads offer, with evidence from the Meta Ad Library, and propose a creative way to open a conversation with one of them. It's close to the real work, so it's the fairest way for both of us to see if it's a fit.
  4. Intro call, about 30 minutes
  5. Paid take-home, about 3 hours: make the case for one paid ads segment, find 10 brands in it, write a personalized outreach sequence, plan your first 60 days of channel tests, and record a short video walking us through your thinking
  6. Live session, about 45 minutes, to discuss your take-home and work through a scenario together
  7. Reference checks

Use AI tools freely throughout. We'll ask you to show how. We aim to complete the process in 5 to 6 weeks, and we'll respond to every applicant.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
