Sales Manager

San Carlos, CA | Sales Leadership

About Closet Factory

For over 40 years, Closet Factory Bay Area has been designing, manufacturing, and installing custom cabinetry and organization systems for homeowners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

From custom closets and home offices to entertainment centers, pantries, garages, wall units, and more, every project is individually designed and custom-built for our clients.

Our established brand, reputation, company-generated opportunities, and partnerships with Costco Wholesale and Lowe's provide a strong foundation for our sales organization.

We're looking for an experienced Sales Manager who can build on that foundation—develop our people, strengthen our sales culture, and drive the next level of performance.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role with a clear mandate: develop our sales team and drive the next level of performance.

You'll help lead a team of In-Home Sales Designers who manage the client relationship from the initial consultation and design through the sale and installation of their projects.

Your job is to help them become exceptional at what they do.

You'll coach and develop individual designers, establish clear expectations, create accountability, use performance data to identify opportunities, and build a sales culture where people are motivated to continuously improve.

You'll work closely with sales leadership and ownership and have a meaningful voice in how we sell, how we develop our team, and how we grow the business.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop In-Home Sales Designers
  • Establish clear performance expectations and create consistent accountability
  • Coach designers on consultations, presentations, follow-up, objection handling, negotiation, and closing
  • Monitor individual and team performance, including sales, closing ratios, pipeline activity, and other key performance indicators
  • Identify performance gaps and turn them into specific coaching and development plans
  • Lead engaging sales meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching
  • Help new designers develop the skills, confidence, and habits needed to become successful
  • Strengthen execution and consistency throughout the sales process
  • Improve lead conversion and maximize revenue from available sales opportunities
  • Help designers develop referrals, relationships, and self-generated business
  • Recognize and develop top performers while addressing underperformance constructively
  • Partner with sales leadership and ownership to identify opportunities and implement strategies that drive sustainable sales growth
  • Collaborate across departments to help deliver an exceptional client experience from consultation through installation

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a sales leader and coach—not simply an administrator.

The right person knows how to get results through people. You can recognize what makes a salesperson successful, identify where someone is struggling, and turn those observations into coaching that changes behavior and improves performance.

You set high expectations while knowing how to motivate, teach, communicate, and build trust.

Ideal candidates have:

  • Proven experience leading and developing a sales team
  • A track record of improving individual and team sales performance
  • Strong coaching, training, and motivational skills
  • The ability to hold people accountable while building a positive, performance-driven culture
  • Strong understanding of consultative selling, follow-up, objection handling, negotiation, and closing
  • Comfort using sales data and KPIs to identify opportunities and make decisions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • A hands-on management style and willingness to stay close to the sales process
  • The ability to recognize talent, develop high performers, and address underperformance
  • A competitive, positive, and results-oriented mindset

Experience in in-home sales, home improvement, remodeling, high-ticket B2C sales, or other consultative sales environments is strongly preferred.

Why Closet Factory?

You'll be joining an established sales organization with a strong foundation already in place:

  • More than 40 years serving the Bay Area
  • An established team of In-Home Sales Designers
  • Company-generated sales opportunities
  • Partnerships with Costco Wholesale and Lowe's
  • In-house design, manufacturing, and installation
  • Established sales and design systems
  • Direct access to sales leadership and ownership
  • The ability to influence sales strategy, training, culture, and growth
  • A significant opportunity to make a measurable impact on the business

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role isn't simply managing schedules or reviewing reports. It's building a sales team that continuously gets better.

You'll know you're succeeding when designers are improving, new team members are becoming productive faster, follow-up is stronger, closing ratios are increasing, revenue is growing, top performers continue developing, and the team operates with greater consistency, confidence, and accountability.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000–$100,000
  • Performance-based incentive compensation with target total earnings of $100,000–$140,000+
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement benefits
  • Paid time off

Compensation within the range will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated sales leadership success.

Build Something Great

Closet Factory already has the brand, infrastructure, products, manufacturing capabilities, sales opportunities, and talented people.

We're looking for a leader who can bring those pieces together and help our sales organization reach its full potential.

If you're energized by developing salespeople, building winning teams, improving performance, and seeing measurable results from your leadership, we'd like to meet you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
