Job Description:

At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world’s largest enterprises.

Cloudera is seeking a Senior Product Manager for the Cloudera Manager product. This role owns the product strategy and roadmap for one of the key lifecycle management tools serving the largest global enterprises across all industries including finance, manufacturing, tech and federal. Cloudera Manager is responsible for the lifecycle of mission critical clusters with thousands of nodes and petabytes of data.

In this role, you will lead and execute on a strategy to ensure Cloudera Manager provides enterprise capabilities with the ease of data SaaS products from on-premises to cloud. You will grow Cloudera Manager to be a tool once used by engineers to an experience that is straight forward for any data platform manager. You will partner closely with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver a market-leading experience in hybrid cloud.

As a Senior Product Manager you will:

  • Drive Intelligent Product Experiences: Shift the product strategy from infinite customization to a simplified user experience that provides optimal settings no matter the cluster configuration and active guardrails to eliminate operational fragility to prevent self-inflicted outages. Incorporate configuration recommendations, actionable health alerts, and actionable bad-configuration warnings directly into the product using AI trained on Cloudera’s knowledge base and real-time observability telemetry.
  • Simplify Accessibility for IT Generalists: Design intuitive workflows and self-guided administrative tools tailored for IT generalists with minimal big data expertise, making documentation a secondary resource and lowering the barrier to platform management.
  • Embed Intelligence: Execute Hybrid Architecture Modernization: Lead the long-term evolution of Cloudera Manager into an orchestrator of clusters across multiple clouds allowing customers to deploy use cases in a hybrid cloud topology.
  • Achieve Uninterrupted Core Operations at Scale: Optimize fundamental cluster lifecycle operations to manage environments up to 10,000 nodes, ensuring refresh and maintenance operations on 1,000+ node clusters execute within customer approved SLAs.
  • Define Predictable Lifecycle & API Guarantees: Establish and enforce structured release lifecycle policies that guarantee public API stability and backward compatibility to remove upgrade friction for enterprise customers.
  • Track Operational Success Metrics: Monitor and continuously improve key performance indicators, specifically focusing on increasing operational velocity, boosting prescriptive feature adoption rates, and reducing support escalation volumes.

We are excited if you have (Required Experience):

  • Bsc/Msc in related field or equivalent experience
  • Enterprise Platform Experience: 5+ years of experience in the enterprise software space with at least 2 years of Product Management experience. Strong foundational understanding of open datalakes, data movement, enterprise data governance, and big data architecture.
  • On-Premise Knowledge: Basic technical understanding of virtualization, data center networking
  • Public Cloud Knowledge: Basic technical understanding of VM-based public cloud deployments (IaaS/PaaS), object storage architectures (S3, ADLS, GCS), and network architectures for at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Simplification & UX Modernization: Demonstrated success in transforming complex, developer-centric platforms into intuitive, "opinionated" products with active guardrails that eliminate manual operational friction.

You might also have:

  • CSP Partner Ecosystem Experience: Direct experience working with or within major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), including partner co-development, cloud marketplace programs, or cloud-native integrations.
  • Competitive Landscape Awareness: Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and competitive solutions, such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery/Bigtable, Amazon EMR/Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
  • Modern Datalakehouse Formats: Familiarity with open table formats (e.g., Apache Iceberg) and multi-cloud data architecture strategies.
  • Data Platform Administrative Experience: Strong background with managing enterprise platforms or supporting customers running enterprise scale deployments with over 100 Terabytes of data.

This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is:

  • California: $185,000 - $231,000

Individual compensation within the published range is determined by the candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, and primary work location. In addition to base pay, sales roles are eligible for Cloudera's commission plan, while non-sales roles are eligible for the corporate incentive plan. All employees receive a comprehensive benefits package.

What you can expect from us:

  • Generous PTO Policy
  • Support work life balance with Unplugged Days
  • Flexible WFH Policy
  • Mental & Physical Wellness programs
  • Phone and Internet Reimbursement program
  • Access to Continued Career Development
  • Comprehensive Benefits and Competitive Packages
  • Paid Volunteer Time
  • Employee Resource Groups

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
