The posting

Clyde & Co US LLP is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel attorney with 10+ years of insurance coverage experience to join our rapidly growing insurance coverage practice. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned coverage attorney who enjoys tackling sophisticated coverage issues, advising insurers on complex claims, and producing high-quality legal analysis and written work.

This position is primarily advisory and non-litigation in nature, with a focus on coverage analysis, strategic claim advice, and the preparation of detailed coverage opinions and coverage-related memoranda. You will work closely with insurer clients on complex commercial liability and excess coverage matters, including issues involving emerging risks such as artificial intelligence, social media, privacy claims, PFAS exposures, unfair competition claims, and other cutting-edge coverage issues.

While admission to the California Bar or Washington State Bar is preferred, we welcome applications from highly qualified attorneys licensed and in good standing in other U.S. jurisdictions.

What you'll do:

  • Advise clients on coverage issues arising under commercial lines liability and excess insurance policies.
  • Draft comprehensive coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and evaluate complex factual and legal issues affecting coverage determinations.
  • Collaborate directly with claims professionals, in-house counsel, and key stakeholders to develop strategic and practical coverage recommendations.
  • Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is admitted to practice law in California, Washington, or another U.S. jurisdiction and is in good standing.
  • Has 10+ years of insurance coverage experience (third-party coverage experience is preferred).
  • Possesses excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Has strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment while also working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Has experience mentoring, training and developing junior attorneys.

How to Apply:

Please submit both a resume and cover letter for this role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
