Delhi Alliance Church

Located in the Western Catskill Mountains, Delhi Alliance is seeking a pastor to guide our church into its next season of ministry. We hope to welcome a leader who is grounded in biblical truth, leads with warmth, and brings together thoughtful, spirit-led preaching and will have an active presence in the community. Our next pastor will help bridge generations, build on the strengths of our congregation, and lead us forward with a clear and faithful sense of direction. Shaped by thoughtful feedback from our congregation and a careful assessment of our region, this profile describes the pastor we seek and the community we are called to serve.

Our Priorities:

  • Biblical Preaching & Teaching: Offer engaging, Scripture-grounded messages that help longtime believers and newcomers alike understand biblical truth and live it out in everyday life.
  • Relational Leadership: Build genuine relationships across generations through personal warmth, a visible presence, careful listening, and compassionate pastoral care.
  • Vision & Strategic Direction: Develop and communicate a clear path forward that honors the church’s heritage while thoughtfully pursuing new opportunities for outreach and ministry.
  • Intentional Discipleship: Encourage spiritual growth through small groups, mentoring, and hands-on service that prepare and support people for active ministry.
  • Community Engagement: Lead and support meaningful outreach that strengthens relationships among our congregation, local organizations, and neighbors who may need additional support.

Our Congregation and Neighbors:

Our small congregation (41 members) is made up largely of active, faithful, bible-believing members who value local outreach, youth programs, and midweek fellowship. We hope to develop a clear vision for connecting with younger generations while continuing to care well for those who already call our church home. Our congregation includes attendees who live locally, and some who travel up to 40 minutes to attend church functions.

Delhi, the county seat of rural Delaware County, is home to nearly 2,300 year-round residents. Many residents own their homes, and the population is aging. At the same time, many working people still struggle to make ends meet, and access to income and opportunity varies widely across the area. Approximately 70% of Delaware County residents report no religious affiliation, which points to both the challenge and the opportunity before us.

SUNY Delhi is also an important part of the community, bringing in about 3,000 students, many from New York City. Some students experience isolation and have limited transportation. Meanwhile, a growing creative movement is bringing fresh energy to Main Street. Our region also faces serious concerns such as drug and alcohol addiction, as well as food insecurity due to financial hardship and geographical isolation.

We seek a pastor who will lovingly shepherd an established congregation while helping us build relationships, welcome new people, and serve with purpose in a diverse and changing rural community.

Candidate must be willing and able to complete the licensing process with the C&MA.
