About Us

Codeword is a communication agency that helps brands create breakthrough comms, content, and community experiences.

We’re a fast-moving team of writers, editors, designers, strategists, videographers, PR mavens, and even a few traditional marketers.

Our incredible roster of global brands trust us to launch their startups, run multi-channel campaigns, grow their user bases, and lead comprehensive PR and marketing initiatives. We're storytellers and brand engineers, and we love big ideas that serve a real purpose.

Codeword is a remote-first agency, with physical offices in NYC and SF that we won’t make you visit.

This is a contractor opportunity starting in December and running through May 2027.

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital production, project management, or a related role
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with experience managing multiple digital workstreams and deadlines
  • Experienced managing projects from brief and creative development through handoff, QA, and launch
  • Proactive and resourceful — you spot potential roadblocks, ask the right questions, and keep projects moving
  • Not shy about sharing your opinion, flagging issues, or pushing stakeholders for what’s needed to get the work across the finish line
  • A strong communicator who knows how to talk, how to write, and how to deck

About This Role:

Digital Producer / Project Manager that leads day-to-day digital production across three core workstreams: Web Production, Email Marketing, and Content Marketing Articles.

Operational bridge connecting internal marketing, copywriting, SEO, and design teams with our client’s external development and design agencies to ensure campaigns and site updates launch smoothly, accurately, and on schedule.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Website

  • Partner with the marketing team to draft Content Requirement Documents (CRDs) and prep design files in Figma.
  • Collect and consolidate marketing stakeholder feedback (during both design and development phases).
  • Coordinate with a copywriter on initial drafts and revisions.
  • Collaborate with the SEO team to integrate target keywords and page metadata into development specs.
  • Lead handoffs with engineering team; sharing all project details, Figma files, copy documents, and web-optimized image assets.
  • Review staging links, test deliverables against requirements, log QA bugs, and track remediation through internal ticketing system.
  • Agency management
  • Serve as liaison for our off-shore engineering team. Lead weekly status calls.
  • Track active workstreams with our external design agency. Attend weekly syncs, facilitate design reviews with internal stakeholders, and consolidate design feedback.

Email

  • Partner with the marketing team to draft requirements and content briefs for email campaigns.
  • Coordinate with a copywriter on initial drafts and revisions.
  • Assemble production Figma files using pre-built design modules and templates.
  • Lead handoffs with email agency; sharing all project details, Figma files, copy documents, web-optimized image assets, and accessibility requirements.
  • Review email proofs/test sends (rendering, links, tracking, copy) and consolidate stakeholder feedback for revisions.

Content Marketing Articles

  • Track writing and editorial statuses.
  • Create briefs for custom article illustrations from the internal design team.

General Operations & Production Support

  • Write a comprehensive weekly status report covering active projects across all web and email initiatives.
  • Maintain the master website copy document, making sure all live edits are documented.
  • Handle minor, emergency content updates directly within the CMS.

Your Compensation:

People – that's you! – are the heart of our business, and we believe in pay transparency.

Our budget for this role is $95 - $115/hour, depending on experience.

Codeword Benefits

  • Flexible work hours
  • Minimum 20 days paid vacation annually
  • 401k + financial wellness support
  • Health Insurance (medical, dental, life, pet, mental health services)
  • Home office allowance
  • Bi-annual Wellness Credits
  • Monthly Technology Credit (to offset internet / phone costs)
  • Comprehensive Parental Leave Policy

A few more things you should know about Codeword

  • The Codeword dream: Make good money doing work you care about with people you like.
  • We love our clients (they write the checks!), which means maintaining a high bar for the creativity, smarts, responsiveness, and communication skills we offer them.
  • We’re around 100 people, big enough to handle large-scale marketing programs, small enough that you’ll have an impact on our culture.
  • We’re a friendly team, we look after each other, and we grow our careers together.
  • We respect everyone’s personal life. After-hours emails are strongly frowned upon, night and weekend work is very rare, and employees are encouraged to pursue their side-hustles.
  • We’re all grownups here, and we trust each other to get the work done, whether at home or in an office or a time zone on the other side of the world.
  • We believe in defaulting to openness. Our calendars, our salary tiers, and our doors are open for all to see. (Except for secret client stuff, which we guard with our lives.)
  • We’re a proud member of the global WE Communications family.
  • Equal Opportunity: Codeword provides equal employment opportunity and doesn’t discriminate against employees or applicants because of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, or other legally protected class status.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Codeword works hard to foster a diverse team and an inclusive workplace where everyone thrives.

We aren’t a traditional agency, so we like to hire people who don’t necessarily fit the agency mold or check all the “right” boxes. If you’re on the fence about applying, please do!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
