About the role

As a Python Automation Test Engineer at Cognizant, you'll be responsible for conducting automation testing using Python to ensure the highest software quality. You'll work with a high-performing team and solve complex problems with your strong command of Unix and SQL. Your role involves designing and implementing tests, debugging, and defining corrective actions. ## What you'll do

  • Design and implement efficient and reliable Python scripts for automation testing
  • Identify process bottlenecks and suggest automation opportunities
  • Uncover and report software defects through automated testing mechanisms
  • Leverage your Unix skills to effectively navigate through the operating system
  • Use SQL to understand databases and extract, insert, or update data as needed
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of testing processes
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends and technologies in automation testing

What we're seeking

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 6-14 years of professional experience as a Automation Test Engineer. Experience with Python is a must
  • Expertise in Unix and SQL
  • Experience in crafting, writing, and executing Python scripts for automation testing
  • Solid understanding of databases, data structures, and algorithms
  • Ability to decode and solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
