The posting

Collaborative Strategies is partnering with Grey Eagle Distributors in the search for a Director of Human Resources. Grey Eagle is the largest Anheuser-Busch distributor in Missouri and one of the largest in the Midwest. Privately owned and well established, Grey Eagle has built its reputation on best-in-class service and a strong commitment to its customers and employees. The company's core values of teamwork, commitment, integrity, and passion shape a culture that values people and takes pride in doing things well.

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and elevating the full scope of the HR function, including talent acquisition and retention, employee development, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, the Director leads the HR team and works closely with managers and employees across the organization to ensure HR programs, policies, and practices are effectively implemented and consistently administered.

This is a hands-on, highly visible HR leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting managers, and getting things done. The Director will be the company's HR subject-matter expert, providing guidance on employment policies and law, managing employee relations matters, overseeing benefits and compensation programs, and ensuring the organization has effective processes for hiring, developing, and retaining employees. Success in this role requires both strong HR expertise and the judgment to balance employee needs with the practical needs of the business.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • HR Leadership & Operations - Lead the HR function, establish priorities, and ensure HR processes, systems, records, and services are effective, accurate, and responsive.
  • Talent, Development & Performance - Oversee recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance management, training, and leadership development. Coach managers on recruiting, interviewing, performance, employee relations, and leadership.
  • Employee Relations - Provide guidance on employee concerns, investigations, performance issues, discipline, promotions, and terminations. Ensure matters are handled consistently, fairly, and in accordance with company policy and employment law.
  • Compensation & Benefits - Oversee employee benefits for union and salaried employees, including open enrollment, vendor relationships, communications, and administration. Support compensation reviews, merit increases, and incentive programs.
  • Compliance & Risk Management - Serve as the subject-matter expert on employment law and HR policies. Oversee compliance, required reporting, employment documentation, pre-employment processes, and the Employee Handbook. Partner with Safety on workers' compensation and return-to-work matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with broad responsibility across multiple HR disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, HR compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience across recruiting, employee development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and HR operations.
  • Experience in an industrial, distribution, manufacturing, transportation, or other frontline environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong manager coaching, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain strong attention to detail in a hands-on operating environment.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
