JOB SUMMARY The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting general accounting functions, financial reporting, and business unit operational accounting. This position performs a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks associated with Colonial Group, Inc.'s accounting processes and supports the accounting team in maintaining accurate and timely financial information. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Assist in analyzing financial transactions and accounts to determine the accuracy and completeness of entries. Prepare journal entries to record revenues, expenses, tax provisions, and other accounting activity. Assist in preparing monthly cash reconciliations and recording related journal entries. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies between purchase orders and supplier invoices. Prepare vouchers for the payment of supplier invoices. Develop a working knowledge of accounting and operational computer software and systems that impact accounting and financial reporting processes. Assist the accounting team in meeting all deadlines in accordance with department closing schedules. Assist with the accounting of certain inventory items and reconcile related general ledger accounts. Prepare various monthly account reconciliations, which may include accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and other accounts. Perform daily and weekly accounting processes that support the accurate reconciliation of monthly activity. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required. 1–3 years of accounting experience required. Previous experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or inventory accounting preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel. Comfortable working with multiple computer software platforms and accounting systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to learn and apply accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, and other related equipment. May occasionally be required to bend, reach, or move between office and operational areas. May occasionally be required to lift and/or move materials or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily an office-based position with regular interaction with members of the accounting team and other business functions. May occasionally require work in warehouse, manufacturing, or other operational areas. Travel is minimal and may be required up to 10% of the time. Work is performed in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with established deadlines and closing schedules.
