Job Summary

This role is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced automation and AI-driven solutions across the Global Engineering Operations organization. The successful candidate will combine strong software engineering expertise with modern AI and automation technologies to build scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, employee experience, network reliability, and customer outcomes. The Engineer IV serves as a hands-on technical leader within the Global Engineering Operations Automation team, partnering closely with platform engineers, source system development teams, architects, data engineers, and operations stakeholders to transform automation concepts into production-grade solutions. While the role maintains awareness of frontline operational challenges and process improvement opportunities, its primary focus is software engineering, AI solution development, system integration, and technical execution.

Working alongside development teams in a highly collaborative environment, this individual will actively contribute code, develop integrations, build AI agents and orchestration frameworks, implement retrieval and reasoning capabilities, and accelerate the adoption of next-generation automation technologies across Engineering Operations. The role requires the ability to translate business and operational requirements into scalable architectures, reusable services, and maintainable software solutions that support Comcast Business' long-term automation strategy.

The position sits at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, and Process Engineering, with a primary emphasis on AI-powered software development and automation platform innovation.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support automation solutions and AI-powered applications across Engineering Operations.
  • Write production-quality code and serve as a hands-on contributor throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Architect and implement agentic AI solutions leveraging frameworks and tools such as Google ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, LangFuse, SCAPE, and related orchestration technologies.
  • Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, knowledge retrieval systems, vector search capabilities, and contextual reasoning solutions.
  • Develop integrations between automation platforms, operational support systems, workflow orchestration tools, network management platforms, and enterprise data sources.
  • Partner directly with platform and source-system engineering teams to define APIs, integration patterns, and technical implementation approaches
  • Translate business, product, and operational requirements into scalable software architectures and technical designs.
  • Contribute to solution architecture reviews, technical design sessions, code reviews, testing strategies, and release planning activities.
  • Guiding the completion of high-profile, revenue-impacting technical research and development programs within the organization
  • Providing leadership on assigned projects and offering technical solutions to complex, revenue-impacting problems
  • Developing specifications, technical requirements, algorithms, and frameworks for custom designs that align with future product and application roadmaps
  • Determining the technical objectives for assignments and leading the design of prototypes in partnership with product teams
  • Conducting research studies to inform and support product or application development efforts
  • Organizing and maintaining project resources, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization
  • Writing and editing a range of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, and formal recommendations
  • Creating patents, APIs, and other intellectual property to enhance the company's technological assets
  • Testing and evaluating solutions from internal and external partners and vendors, completing case studies and reports to assess their viability
  • Representing the technical research and development work team as the prime technical contact on assigned projects, interfacing with various stakeholders
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
