Position Summary

The Foreman - Sheetmetal leads one or more crews responsible for the safe, timely, and high-quality installation of commercial HVAC ductwork, air-distribution systems, dampers, louvers, and air-moving equipment. The role converts project requirements into executable work plans, develops field talent, and coordinates closely with project and trade partners. This position reports to the General Foreman or Superintendent.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more crews performing work on commercial HVAC ductwork, air-distribution systems, dampers, louvers, and air-moving equipment and establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and conduct.
  • Build and communicate daily work plans using drawings, schedules, coordination information, labor budgets, material status, and jobsite constraints.
  • Plan manpower, tools, equipment, access, prefabrication, deliveries, and work areas to support reliable production.
  • Review project documents, identify constructability issues and scope gaps, and elevate requests for information before they affect the work.
  • Coordinate sequencing and access with project management, general contractors, other trades, vendors, inspectors, and commissioning teams.
  • Verify installations against drawings, specifications, codes, approved submittals, and quality checklists; drive timely correction of deficiencies.
  • Track installed quantities, labor performance, schedule status, material needs, and constraints; provide accurate daily or weekly reporting.
  • Coach employees, assign work, document performance, recognize strong results, and address conduct or performance concerns with management.
  • Lead pre-task planning, job hazard analysis, toolbox talks, housekeeping, and incident prevention activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of commercial mechanical construction experience in sheetmetal work, including progressively responsible field leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan labor and material, read project schedules, and lead safe, productive installation work.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable drawings, specifications, codes, testing requirements, and quality standards.
  • Ability to use mobile devices and standard construction software for drawings, reporting, time, and documentation.
  • Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or technical training program.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction credential and current competent-person or equipment certifications relevant to assigned work.
  • Experience on large healthcare, data center, laboratory, manufacturing, or other complex commercial projects.
  • Experience with lean planning, prefabrication, BIM-enabled work packages, and production tracking.

What you can expect

  • Exceptional health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid Employee-Only Medical Coverage.
  • In-house and manufacturer-led training and leadership development.
  • Long-term career growth into operations, sales, technical, and/or leadership roles.
  • Comprehensive benefits package and employer-sponsored professional memberships.
  • 401(k) match, PTO, holiday pay, and more.
  • Eligibility for the annual incentive program based on role and plan terms.
  • Stable commercial work with opportunities for skills development and advancement.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily on active commercial construction sites with regular exposure to weather, noise, dust, moving equipment, stairs, ladders, lifts, and uneven surfaces. The role requires extensive walking and standing, use of required PPE, handling of field technology and documents, and occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Early starts, schedule changes, and travel among jobsites may be required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
