Own the integrity of the plant’s financial reporting, forecasting, costing, inventory, working capital, and internal controls, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, US GAAP, SOX, and applicable local statutory requirements.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

• Act as the primary finance business partner to the Plant Manager and plant leadership team, providing independent financial challenges and practical insight to support operational and commercial decisions.

• Translate corporate and divisional objectives into plant-level financial plans, targets, and actions, and promote a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement.

• Lead the annual budget, monthly forecast, and reforecasting processes, ensuring the integrity of assumptions for sales, material, labour, overhead, productivity, capital expenditure, and working capital.

• Own the accuracy and integrity of the plant P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, including clear bridges between actual results, forecast, budget, and prior year.

• Analyze price, volume, mix, material, labour, overhead, productivity, and other operational variances; identify root causes and coordinate corrective actions with accountable owners.

• Drive cost optimisation, productivity improvement, operating income conversion, and delivery of plant financial commitments.

• Partner with Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams on capacity, labour, sourcing, capital investment, pricing, and cost-reduction decisions.

• Own plant cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory valuation, ensuring material, labour, and overhead standards are current, complete, and supported by operational assumptions.

• Lead the annual standard-cost roll and analyze purchase price, material usage, labour efficiency, manufacturing, and overhead absorption variances.

• Review product and customer profitability and highlight adverse trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

• Oversee physical inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, reserves, and actions for aged, excess, and obsolete stock.

• Lead plant working-capital improvement, monitoring inventory, receivables, payables, accruals, and other balance sheet movements.

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, journal entries, accruals, provisions, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and supporting documentation.

• Establish and maintain accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives in line with corporate requirements.

• Own the execution and effectiveness of plant internal controls, including SOX, delegation of authority, purchasing, payments, payroll, inventory, capital expenditure, and financial reporting controls.

• Lead internal and external audit activity, complete requests on time, and ensure remediation plans are implemented for all findings.

• Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, tax, legal, environmental, climate-change, safety, and security requirements.

• Support the development and prioritisation of the plant capital plan; validate business cases, savings, payback, and cash flow assumptions, and complete post-investment reviews.

• Lead, coach, and develop the plant finance team, setting clear responsibilities and performance expectations and maintaining appropriate succession, cross-training, and segregation of duties.

• Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, automation, ERP discipline, and financial master-data integrity across plant finance processes.

• Collaborate with other plants and corporate teams to share best practices and improve overall performance and service.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the position as assigned.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
