Reporting to the CEO, the ead of HR is responsible for planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies and practices of the human resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance, and implementing the organization's mission and talent strategy. the Head of HR has a significant impact on company culture and employee experience and satisfaction.
As a representative and leader of CSC, the Head of HR will build relationships with his/her counterparts and project a positive, professional image of the organization to the community, CSC Management staff, and partners. your attention to detail, bar of excellence, and “people skills” will be paramount in CSC's growth and success.

Cooper Street Capital is the sole principal of CSC Management, a multifamily property management firm. CSC Management exclusively operates Cooper Street Capital’s portfolio of multifamily properties. CSC’s portfolio expands across key markets such as El Paso, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth, Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, Portland, Spokane, and Lexington. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Head of HR reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies and practices of the Human Resource (HR) department. This role partners with Asset Management, Operations, Legal, and Accounting but has no direct reports.
- Identifying, evaluating and solving hiring challenges
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Recruiting top talent to executive positions
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Runs payroll semi-monthly and handles the back end accounting of it.
- Works closely with ADP to select benefits. Leads open enrollment and new hire enrollment for benefits. Completes benefits accounting.
- Enters employee garnishments with payroll team.
- Oversees unemployment, responding to claims and attending necessary unemployment zoom court hearings.
- Responsible for entering and overseeing workers compensation claims from open to close. Mitigate risk of workers compensation claims.
- Mediating and suggesting solutions to employee disputes.
- Interviewing potential candidates and making recommendations.
- Compiling information about compensation and benefits packages based on market data
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Oversee the company-wide performance review process
- Ensure adherence to company systems and best practices (employee training, onboarding, coaching, dispute resolution, etc).
- Ensure that company documents and People Operations Platform are current and up to date.
- Conduct exit interviews with departing employees.
- Plan and coordinate annual company offsite
- Oversee marketing materials, “swag,” websites, and online presence.
- Assist Investor Relations team with the planning, purchasing, and mailing of holiday investor boxes
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

Minimum Requirements + Skills
- 2-6 years experience in Human Resources and/or Talent role
- Strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee the HR function and work with all employees within the company
- Comfort with computers to perform necessary tasks with common office and HR programs
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to take complex problems and communicate accurately and persuasively to generate and execute solutions
- Strong project and time management skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and results driven environment
- Self-directed and highly organized
- Expectation of excellence for communication between on the ground work, central team, and leadership
- BA or BS in business, real estate, or related field
Preferred Skills
- Experience with people management, training, and human resources.
- Experience running payroll.
- Experience with private equity and multi-family property management.
