This role will partner closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Biometrics, Quality, business teams, and managed service providers to ensure AWS environments are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with business needs.

The role will have a strong focus on supporting Biometrics and GxP environments while establishing AWS standards and building cloud engineering expertise within the Infrastructure team. The Associate Director will also provide technical oversight of managed service providers supporting day-to-day AWS operations.

This is a hybrid role, typically requiring on-site presence 4 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical lead for AWS, providing architecture and engineering direction across cloud initiatives and supporting the development and execution of the AWS roadmap
  • Define AWS architecture, engineering standards, and best practices across networking, compute, storage, identity, security, backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery
  • Provide technical leadership for AWS environments supporting Biometrics and GxP workloads, partnering with Quality, application owners, and business teams to meet infrastructure, validation, and compliance requirements
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and resilient AWS solutions supporting new applications, business growth, and infrastructure modernization
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to managed service providers supporting AWS operations, ensuring services, changes, and solutions meet Corcept’s technical, security, and operational standards
  • Partner with the Infrastructure and Cybersecurity teams to strengthen AWS security, access controls, monitoring, vulnerability management, backup, recovery, and operational readiness
  • Drive standardization and automation of the AWS environment, including Infrastructure as Code, account and network standards, monitoring, and repeatable deployment practices
  • Lead technical reviews and provide guidance for AWS projects, infrastructure changes, migrations, and new cloud services
  • Ensure AWS architecture, configurations, operational documentation, and critical technical knowledge are maintained internally and are not solely dependent on external service providers
  • Identify opportunities to improve AWS reliability, performance, cost management, operational efficiency, and overall cloud maturity
  • Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to understand business and application requirements and translate them into appropriate cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Mentor Infrastructure team members and help build AWS technical capabilities and cloud engineering knowledge within the organization
  • Communicate AWS strategy, architecture decisions, technical risks, and recommendations to IT leadership and key stakeholders
  • Uphold Corcept’s Key Principles by driving collaboration, embracing possibilities, following the data, and leading by doing, ensuring all initiatives align with the Company’s ethics and patient-first principles

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Technical Proficiencies:

  • Strong understanding of Life Sciences business processes, requirements and IT systems supporting drug discovery, clinical trials, regulatory compliance, contracts, HR, and Finance
  • Strong AWS architecture and engineering experience supporting enterprise production environments
  • Deep technical knowledge of AWS networking, compute, storage, identity, security, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery services
  • Experience with AWS Organizations, IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Security Hub, AWS Backup, and related AWS technologies
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, Active Directory, identity federation, DNS, routing, firewalls, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with AWS WorkSpaces, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, SAS, Posit, or similar scientific and analytics platforms is preferred
  • Experience providing technical direction and oversight to managed service providers and cloud consulting partners
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to work at both the architecture and hands-on engineering level
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and IT leadership

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline is required
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or related IT disciplines
  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS architecture and engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership, including leading engineering teams, managed service providers, and cross-functional technology initiatives
  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure in Life Sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or another regulated industry is preferred
  • Experience supporting GxP environments, infrastructure qualification, and formal change-control processes is preferred
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or similar AWS certification preferred

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
