The posting

The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University invites applications for two Professor positions. We seek candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level whose research interests and plans align with the mission and thematic focus of DNS. Research within DNS is organized around four thematic areas: Nutrition for Maternal and Child Health; Nutrition for Metabolic Health; Nutrition for Public Health and Health Equity; and Nutrition for Precision Health. We are particularly interested in candidates whose expertise spans multiple domains and who are committed to translational nutrition research, such as bridging behavioral research with community implementation and public health impact, connecting molecular mechanisms with human physiology and health, or the application of data science methods to nutrition.

Candidates who are working at the intersection of nutrition with other fields are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates should have a track record of high-quality research commensurate with rank. Candidates are expected to maintain a strong extramurally funded research program, supervise PhD students, and teach and coordinate courses in nutrition or related topics at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The Division of Nutritional Sciences

The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) is the home for human-centered nutrition research, teaching, and extension at Cornell University. The vision of DNS is to be one of the leading academic nutrition units in the world, dedicated to advancing human health through excellence and leadership in research, education, and public engagement. To fulfill our vision, we aim to discover new scientific knowledge, translate knowledge into evidence-based actions that promote human health and well-being, disseminate and evaluate interventions in populations, and train the next generation of leaders and professionals in our field. DNS studies human nutrition at levels ranging from cells to society, drawing on the chemical, biological and social sciences to understand the complex relationships among human health, nutritional status, food and lifestyle patterns, and social and institutional environments.

Research Infrastructure

In addition to the laboratories of the individual faculty members, DNS houses a shared research infrastructure consisting of three pillars: 1) a Human Metabolic Research Unit for controlled clinical studies in nutrition and metabolism; 2) a Nutritional Chemistry Laboratory for quantitative analysis of metabolites and clinical chemical parameters; 3) a Molecular and Cellular Laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry. In 2022, a new Cornell Center for Precision Nutrition and Health was established by the College of Human Ecology, with its leadership based in the Division of Nutritional Sciences.

DNS is the administrative home for the Cornell Graduate Field of Nutrition and the Graduate Field of Epidemiology and currently has three NIH-sponsored training grants in Artificial Intelligence and Precision Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health, and Translational Research to support pre- and post-doctoral trainees. DNS faculty currently supports about 70 graduate students and about 15 postdoctoral trainees. The DNS undergraduate program consists of three majors and a concentration, collectively covering about 670 students. DNS also coordinates a Didactic Program in Dietetics and a Dietetic Internship program.

The Division is home to the Food and Nutrition Education in Communities program, which leads the New York State Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (NYS EFNEP) delivered through the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) system. DNS is the only nutrition-focused World Health Organization | Pan American Health Organization Collaborating Centre in the USA and is an Affiliate Center in the Cochrane US Network. DNS is also home to the Program in International Nutrition, the longest-running program of its kind with an alumni base of over 300 graduates.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
