Role Overview:

In Growth Engineering, our mission is to increase the number of transacting customers and grow their purchase frequency and lifetime value. We are the architects of core platforms and services that propel Coupang's growth and marketing efficiency. Our portfolio includes platforms for Search Advertising, Affiliate, Display targeting, CRM, Audience, and Push Marketing, along with core services for user profiles, landing, tracking, and attribution. The team has significant opportunities in machine learning for areas like targeting, personalization, and product recommendations.

As an senior staff engineer, you will lead the architecture, development, and operationalization of a next-generation Marketing Platform. This platform is designed to drive the rapid growth of Coupang’s offsite marketing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Define and execute the short and long-term architectural roadmaps for offsite marketing team.
  • Collaborate with business and product teams to translate business requirements into architecture designs and execution roadmaps.
  • Ensure the platform meets high standards of availability, reliability, and low-latency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the efficiency and flexibility of the data, platform, and services while maintaining high customer trust, performance, and availability.
  • Lead the collaboration with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders to drive cross functional projects.
  • Define how AI and emerging technologies can improve engineering productivity, software quality, and organizational effectiveness within your area or tech domain.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years in software engineering domain, with a significant portion in a technical leadership.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining distributed systems at scale.
  • A proven track record of leveraging AI to improve org’s engineering productivity or drive business impact.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business needs to technical architecture and execution plans.
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • A proven track record of influencing software engineering best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Business-level English (written and spoken) is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mar-tech platform to support offsite marketing such as display ads, search ads, affiliate marketing.
  • Experience with open-source frameworks and technologies such as Spring, AWS, APIs, NoSQL, and Big Data Technologies like Kafka, Hive, Cassandra, Iceberg, Apache Flink, or Apache Spark.
  • Strong technical leadership experience in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and agile environment.
  • Ability to work backwards from the customer and deliver innovative, simple solutions.
