Job Description

The North America Finance Director is a critical member of the leadership team, responsible for the Cummins Drivetrain & Breaking Systems North America First Fit P&L and Balance Sheet, representing approximately $2B in annual revenue across 10 manufacturing sites in the United States and Mexico. This highly visible role serves as a strategic business partner providing financial leadership that drives profitable growth, margin expansion, operational excellence, and long-term business sustainability. The North America Finance Director will balance strategic planning with hands-on operational engagement, partnering closely with site leaders, controllers, and commercial teams to manage performance, evaluate investments, navigate customer and delivery challenges, and develop future organizational capability. Success in this role requires a strong manufacturing finance and operations background, the ability to influence and challenge business decisions through data-driven insights, and a willingness to spend significant time in the plants building relationships and driving results across the network. This is an onsite with flexibility role based in Troy, Michigan.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Serve as a key member of the North America leadership team, influencing business strategy, growth initiatives, and operational decisions while providing financial guidance that drives sustainable profitability and long-term value creation.
  • Own the financial performance of the business, leading the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), forecasting, and monthly performance reviews to ensure delivery of revenue, margin, cost, working capital, and cash flow commitments.
  • Provide actionable financial insights to business leaders, translating complex financial data into clear recommendations that identify risks, capitalize on opportunities, and support informed decision-making across operations and commercial functions.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement, partnering with plant leaders, controllers, and functional teams to improve productivity, achieve cost savings targets, optimize working capital, and increase overall business efficiency.
  • Lead capital allocation and investment decisions, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to support strategic priorities, facility investments, growth initiatives, and long-term business success.
  • Strengthen financial governance and compliance, ensuring adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, regulatory requirements, tax obligations, and regional financial complexities while maintaining the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate across the global supply chain network, working with operations and supply chain leaders to reduce costs in freight, warehousing, trade compliance, and other centrally managed processes while improving service and operational performance.
  • Build and strengthen a geographically dispersed finance team of 6 direct reports and 21 indirect reports, empowering leaders, developing future talent, driving organizational effectiveness, and ensuring the team is equipped to support both current business priorities and long-term strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Enterprise Financial Leadership – Proven experience leading the financial performance of a complex manufacturing business with full P&L and balance sheet accountability, including forecasting, month-end close, working capital management, risk and opportunity assessment, and delivery of annual financial commitments.
  • Operations-Focused Business Partnering – Deep experience partnering with operations, commercial, and supply chain leaders to improve business performance, achieve productivity and cost savings targets, support capital investments, navigate customer and delivery challenges, and drive data-based decision making that balances short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Strategic and Results-Oriented Leadership – Ability to translate market, operational, and financial insights into actionable strategies that support growth, margin expansion, and organizational goals. Demonstrates strong planning, prioritization, accountability, and execution while successfully leading through ambiguity and change.
  • Multi-Site Organizational Leadership – Experience leading geographically dispersed finance organizations, including controllers and finance teams across multiple locations. Proven success developing talent, driving organizational effectiveness, leading succession planning, and building strong partnerships across operations, accounting, internal controls, and joint venture environments.
  • Influence, Communication, and Adaptability – Strong communicator and relationship builder who effectively engages diverse stakeholders, challenges assumptions constructively, adapts to changing business conditions, and influences decisions through financial insight, business acumen, and a collaborative leadership approach.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
