POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health is hiring a Staff Cloud Automation Engineer to help define, build, and scale the next generation of enterprise cloud platforms that power infrastructure delivery across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and private cloud environments. As a Staff Cloud Automation Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for advancing the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities that enable thousands of engineers to securely provision, deploy, govern, and operate infrastructure at enterprise scale.

The Staff Cloud Automation Engineer will help drive a modern cloud platform ecosystem focused on automation, developer productivity, governance, security, reliability, and operational excellence. Key platform capabilities include AI-powered developer experiences running on Kubernetes, policy-driven governance powered by Open Policy Agent (OPA), GitOps-based deployment and configuration management utilizing ArgoCD, Helm, and Ansible, Terraform-based provisioning and reconciliation services, Temporal-based workflow orchestration, Artifactory and ORAS publishing platforms, and enterprise observability solutions built on OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and Mimir.

As a Staff Cloud Automation Engineer, you will design and develop cloud-native software, automation frameworks, platform services, APIs, and shared engineering capabilities using technologies such as TypeScript, Go, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure AI Foundry, GitHub Actions, Ansible, ServiceNow, and modern cloud services. You will partner closely with cloud architects, platform engineers, security teams, software developers, and technology leaders to accelerate cloud adoption, improve developer experiences, strengthen governance, and enhance platform reliability across CVS Health.

The Staff Cloud Automation Engineer will provide technical leadership for strategic platform investments and may ultimately own one or more critical platform domains, including AI-powered engineering solutions, developer platforms, Terraform reconciliation services, governance and policy systems, workflow orchestration services, observability platforms, publishing ecosystems, and shared infrastructure automation capabilities. You will influence platform architecture, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, and help shape the long-term roadmap for enterprise cloud platform modernization.

The ideal Staff Cloud Automation Engineer combines deep expertise in cloud platforms, software engineering, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, automation, and distributed systems with a passion for developer enablement, cloud governance, platform reliability, and AI-powered engineering innovation. Successful candidates are motivated by building secure, scalable, resilient, and reusable platforms that empower engineering teams across CVS Health.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build, and operate enterprise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms that automate provisioning, governance, configuration management, and lifecycle operations across AWS, Azure, GCP, and private cloud environments.
  • Develop and enhance cloud-native platform capabilities including Terraform provisioning services, AI-powered developer experiences, GitOps deployment platforms, policy enforcement frameworks, workflow orchestration systems, and shared engineering utilities.
  • Engineer scalable software, automation frameworks, APIs, and platform services utilizing technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, TypeScript, Go, Helm, ArgoCD, Open Policy Agent (OPA), Temporal, and GitHub Actions.
  • Lead platform architecture, cloud automation strategy, engineering standards, and modernization initiatives while mentoring engineers and driving adoption of best practices in reliability, security, governance, and developer productivity.
  • Partner with cloud, security, architecture, SRE, and software engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, observable, and highly automated platform solutions that accelerate enterprise cloud adoption.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 7+ years delivering cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, software engineering, or cloud automation solutions within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • 6+ years architecting, deploying, and operating solutions across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise-scale infrastructure.
  • 5+ years designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, Ansible, or comparable cloud-native technologies.
  • 5+ years building software, platform services, automation frameworks, APIs, developer tooling, or cloud-native applications using Go, TypeScript, Python, Node.js, or similar programming languages.
  • 3+ years leading technical initiatives involving CI/CD, GitOps, cloud governance, policy-as-code, observability, security, reliability, and modern platform engineering practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building AI-powered developer platforms, AI agents, agentic workflows, or developer productivity solutions leveraging Azure AI Foundry, large language models (LLMs), and modern AI engineering frameworks.
  • Experience with Temporal, event-driven architectures, workflow orchestration platforms, and large-scale automation systems operating in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience serving as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, or Lead Platform Engineer, providing technical leadership for cloud platform, infrastructure, or developer experience initiatives.
  • Experience implementing observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices utilizing OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, and related monitoring, telemetry, and reliability platforms.
  • Experience with Artifactory, ORAS, GitHub Actions, ServiceNow integrations, Docusaurus, and highly regulated healthcare, payer, pharmacy, or Fortune 500 enterprise environments.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant experience).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
