The posting

ABOUT THE ROLE

Cyberhaven is building Flow, a unified data security platform spanning Human Data Security, Agentic Data Security, and Data Security Posture Management. The people who use it are security analysts, insider-risk investigators, and data protection leaders — experts doing demanding work under time pressure, who live in our product all day. And increasingly they are not working alone: AI agents are becoming actors inside the enterprise and inside our product, which means the experience we design now has to serve both the human doing the judging and the agent doing the work.

We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead our design team and own what Flow feels like to use. You will set the experience vision for the platform, define the interaction patterns for a generation of security work that is part human and part agentic, and lead the designers and researchers who make it real.

You will lead a small, talented team of designers and will partner directly with the CPO, product management, engineering, and customer experience, and you will operate as the design voice in the rooms where the roadmap and scope get decided. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will raise the craft bar and grow your team, and still be close enough to the work to have an independent point of view about what we should build.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Own the end-to-end product design experience across Flow, HDS, ADS, and DSPM from the analyst’s daily workflow to how the platform holds together as one product rather than three.

- Define the next-generation experience vision for the platform, including how humans and AI agents work together inside it: agent-assisted investigation, human-in-the-loop decisions, explainability, and the interaction patterns that let a security professional trust and override automated work.

- Lead, coach, and grow a team of product designers, and raise the standard for craft, critique, and how design decisions are argued and defended.

- Own the UX research function and make sure the team’s work is grounded in evidence customer interviews, usability testing, support and RFE signal, and product instrumentation rather than internal opinion.

- Partner with product management and engineering from the earliest stage of every major initiative, shaping the problem definition and scope rather than styling decisions that have already been made.

- Build and evolve the design system and the patterns that let a growing engineering organization ship a consistent experience at speed.

- Establish how design measures itself usability benchmarks, task success, time to resolution for core analyst workflows, adoption of new surfaces, support deflection and report against it.

- Drive the experience work behind platform migration, making sure the move to Flow is something customers want rather than something they endure.

- Represent the customer’s experience in executive forums roadmap reviews, business reviews, and planning with a clear and honest read on where the product stands.

WHO YOU ARE

- 10+ years in product design, including 4+ years leading and developing designers, with a portfolio of shipped work you can walk through end to end.

- You have set an experience vision for a complex product and then delivered against it — not just a concept deck, but patterns and surfaces that shipped and held up.

- Experienced with complex, expert-user enterprise software — tools where the user is a professional doing demanding work, not a consumer. Security, IT operations, observability, data infrastructure, or similar domains.

- You have designed AI-powered or agentic product experiences and have a real point of view on trust, transparency, control, and what happens when the model is wrong.

- Strong systems thinker: you can hold a platform-level information architecture in your head, and you build design systems that make teams faster instead of slowing them down.

- You value and use research. You know how to run the function, ask the right questions of it, and act on what comes back.

- An exceptional communicator and influencer. You can tell a room of executives something they do not want to hear, ground it in the customer’s reality, and leave with a decision.

- A people leader first. You develop designers, give direct feedback, and build a team that does its best work.

- You operate with urgency and judgment in a fast-moving environment, and you are comfortable making progress before every input is in hand.

- Located in the US (SF Bay Area preferred).

Bonus points if you have:

- Worked in cybersecurity, or designed for security operations, insider risk, or data protection teams.

- Led design through a major platform migration or the consolidation of several products into one.

- Experience building a design function hiring, leveling, process, and the operating rhythm not just running one that already existed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
