Title: Director, Quality and Reliability Engineering – AI Hardware

The Role:

d-Matrix is seeking an experienced quality and reliability leader to own product, supplier, manufacturing, and customer quality, reliability engineering, and component engineering for AI hardware platforms spanning ASIC, cards, servers, racks, and clusters. This leader is accountable for quality, reliability, field performance, and customer confidence for high-performance AI systems deployed at data center scale.

The role operates at the intersection of hardware engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain, and customers, embedding quality and reliability into design, supplier, and manufacturing decisions. d-Matrix is already shipping first-generation Rack Scale products in volume. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to build and lead a top-notch team to achieve world-class quality, reliability, and availability performance.

This Role Owns

- Quality Management System (QMS) and audit readiness, aligned to ISO 9001 or equivalent

- Product Quality and Reliability Engineering, including qualification, RDT, MTBF, ORT, and fault-tolerant design

- Supplier Quality across ODMs, Contract Manufacturers, and component suppliers

- Manufacturing Quality at ODM and CM sites, including process control, yield, DPPM, and shipment readiness

- Customer Quality, including RMA, reverse logistics, failure analysis, and customer escalations

- Component Engineering for board-level products and above, including qualification, AVL governance, and second sourcing

- Quality metrics and executive reporting with independent reporting to leadership

- This role sets quality strategy, standards, and outcomes, collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Test, and Supplier and Partner Management who execute within that framework

What you will do:

- Build and scale the QMS, including Control Plans, Work Instructions, and CAPA governance, across ASIC, card, server, rack, and cluster-level products

- Design and run RMA, reverse logistics, and failure analysis processes with closed-loop feedback into design and manufacturing

- Drive reliability programs (qualification, RDT, MTBF, ORT) and fault-tolerant design that meets AI datacenter availability requirements

- Establish supplier and manufacturing quality programs across partners, including audits, process controls, and NPI build readiness

- Lead Component Engineering for board-level products and above, including qualification, second-source programs, and lifecycle management

- Define quality KPIs and dashboards (yield, DPPM, RMA rate, MTBF, CAPA closure) and report independently to executive leadership

- Serve as the quality voice in product release and shipment readiness, customer audits, and escalations; build, hire, and develop the quality organization for volume shipments and Rack Scale solutions

What you will bring:

- 15+ years in hardware quality and reliability engineering, including 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams

- BS/MS in EE/ME or a related engineering field

- Deep exposure to server-class systems, AI accelerators, or data center hardware

- Proven track record of building or scaling a QMS through high-volume ramps

- Hands-on experience across supplier, manufacturing, and customer quality, including ODMs and CMs

- Component engineering experience: qualification, AVL management, second sourcing, and lifecycle management

- Command of reliability fundamentals (MTBF, acceleration models, RDT/ORT, system-, rack-, and cluster-level availability) and quality tools (8D, 5-Why, FMEA, SPC, DOE)

- ISO 9001 lead auditor experience or equivalent; ASQ CQE/CRE and PLM (Arena or Agile) familiarity preferred

- Strong executive presence with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
