The posting

Job Description:

Dash Bio is seeking a scientifically curious, adaptable, and intellectually driven individual to develop and implement bioanalytical methods that power our highly automated clinical bioanalysis lab. You'll work at the intersection of biology, automation, and software, translating fundamental scientific principles into scalable, robust assays that run reliably on our tech-first platform.

We value scientific versatility over narrow specialization. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on learning new techniques, approaches problems systematically, and can rapidly adapt their expertise across different analytical platforms. This is an on-site role partnering closely with Automation, Quality, and Software teams to bring methods from concept through validation. Level will be matched to experience (Associate Scientist through Senior Scientist).

Key Responsibilities:

Method Development and Innovation:

  • Design, optimize, and troubleshoot analytical assays across multiple platforms including immunoassays (ELISA, MSD/ECL, Luminex), and cell-based/ligand-binding assays for PK, immunogenicity (ADA/NAb), and biomarker applications.
  • Rapidly acquire proficiency in new analytical techniques and platforms as business needs evolve, demonstrating intellectual agility and systematic approach to method learning.
  • Apply fundamental scientific principles to solve complex technical challenges, often bridging concepts from molecular biology, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to translate manual protocols into robust automated workflows on liquid handlers and integrated robotics (e.g., Hamilton, KingFisher, Omni); contribute to script design, QC checkpoints, and error-handling strategies.
  • Partner with software and data science teams to optimize data capture, LIMS integration, and analytics pipelines, ensuring seamless information flow and rapid turnaround.

Technical Excellence and Problem-Solving:

  • Systematically troubleshoot assay performance issues using data-driven approaches and scientific reasoning rather than cookbook methodologies.
  • Establish and manage critical reagent qualification programs, reference standards, calibrators, and controls; design and execute bridging studies and lot-to-lot comparability assessments.
  • Define comprehensive sample handling workflows including matrix selection, stability protocols, freeze-thaw studies, parallelism, and selectivity assessments for challenging clinical specimens.
  • Use design of experiments (DOE) and statistical methods to establish assay performance characteristics including sensitivity/LOD/LOQ, precision, accuracy, specificity, linearity/range, robustness, and stability.

Documentation and Regulatory Alignment:

  • Author clear, scientifically rigorous method development reports, validation plans/protocols, and validation reports aligned with ICH M10 and FDA bioanalytical guidance.
  • Define control strategies, acceptance criteria, and system suitability parameters; implement qualified/validated methods for GLP operations in collaboration with automation teams.
  • Communicate complex technical findings to diverse audiences including internal teams and external clients, translating data into actionable insights that drive project strategies and regulatory submissions.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality standards, timelines, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technicians, providing hands-on guidance in experimental design, data interpretation, and adherence to scientific best practices.
  • Serve as technical subject matter expert during client interactions and regulatory discussions, representing assay development capabilities and limitations accurately.
  • Foster a culture of scientific curiosity, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration across all departments.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and innovation initiatives, bringing fresh perspectives from diverse scientific backgrounds.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field) with 3+ years of hands-on research experience
  • Demonstrated track record of mastering new laboratory techniques and analytical methods across different research environments
  • Strong foundation in analytical method development principles including optimization, troubleshooting, and performance characterization
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis, statistical methods, and experimental design
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent scientific communication skills with attention to detail and systematic approach to problem-solving
  • Intellectual curiosity and adaptability to rapidly evolving technical requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience with automated liquid handling systems and laboratory robotics platforms
  • Background in immunoassays (ELISA, MSD) or cell-based assays
  • Experience in Flow cytometry and/or FACS
  • Familiarity with GxP environments, method validation, and regulatory guidelines
  • Track record of translating methods across different analytical platforms or research contexts
  • Experience bridging wet lab techniques with data analysis and computational approaches
  • Exposure to Cell cultures

In accordance with Massachusetts pay transparency requirements, the base salary range for this role is $94,000-$181,000. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, skills, scope, responsibilities, and internal equity.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
