About DataOne

DataOne designs, develops, and operates sustainable AI Factories, bringing together energy, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence at industrial scale. With operations in the U.S. and internationally, we deliver large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. As we continue to grow, we're looking for people who want to bring their experience, ideas, and perspective to meaningful projects and help shape what comes next at DataOne.

About the Job

DataOne is hiring a Resident Engineer – Electrical to provide on-site engineering oversight and construction quality monitoring for electrical systems at our Vineland data center. This position plays an important role in reviewing electrical installations, identifying construction deficiencies, and confirming that work meets approved engineering designs, project specifications, and applicable electrical codes.

In this role, you'll conduct site inspections, review technical submittals, and work closely with construction contractors, design engineers, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues. You'll also support electrical testing, commissioning, and project handover to help deliver safe, reliable electrical infrastructure for our mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor electrical construction quality, identify deficiencies, and verify installations against approved designs and project requirements.
  • Inspect critical electrical infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, automatic transfer switches, electrical panels, busway, and grounding systems.
  • Review electrical submittals, shop drawings, equipment specifications, single-line diagrams, and technical studies, including short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Serve as the primary on-site electrical engineering contact, coordinating technical questions, RFIs, and construction issues with contractors and off-site design engineers.
  • Identify installation deficiencies, design discrepancies, and incomplete work, and track corrective actions through resolution.
  • Witness electrical acceptance testing, equipment verification, and commissioning activities, including UPS, generator, circuit breaker, and transfer switch testing.
  • Support integrated systems testing, system acceptance, and project handover, including review of as-built drawings and equipment documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, punch lists, technical records, and construction quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with Construction, Engineering, Operations, and commissioning teams to resolve technical concerns and support project progress.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA requirements.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical construction, or construction engineering, preferably involving large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
  • Experience inspecting electrical installations, identifying construction deficiencies, and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Experience reviewing electrical drawings, technical submittals, construction specifications, and electrical engineering studies.
  • Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, IEEE, and NETA standards.
  • Experience supporting electrical equipment testing, commissioning, construction quality assurance, and technical documentation.

We recognize that experience and skills can come from different paths. Relevant professional, hands-on, educational, military, trade, and industry experience may all provide the skills and knowledge needed to succeed at DataOne.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data center construction, hyperscale facilities, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience as a Resident Engineer, Owner's Representative, Electrical Construction Engineer, or Electrical Quality Assurance Engineer.

  • Experience coordinating multiple contractors on large-scale construction projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification, NFPA 70E safety training, or additional Professional Engineer licensure in another state.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
