If you’re ready to join a fast-growing, high-impact company that’s reimagining resource management, then let’s talk.

About the Role

As our platform continues to scale, we are investing heavily in our infrastructure, reliability, and deployment capabilities.

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Quality Engineer to work within our Infrastructure Platform team, ensuring that our systems are reliable, scalable, observable, and safe to release. This is an exciting new role for us at Dayshape and an opportunity to help shape how we approach infrastructure quality as we continue to scale.

This role will focus on defining and putting in place our approach and strategy for testing infrastructure, infrastructure deployments, and the non-functional aspects of our platform. You will take ownership of building confidence in how our infrastructure and systems behave under real-world conditions, including failure, load, change, and recovery.

You will play a leading role in establishing and embedding quality practices across infrastructure engineering, working closely with engineers to improve testability, observability, resilience, and release confidence. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to bring strong technical judgement, challenge existing approaches where appropriate, and help set the standard for infrastructure quality.

This role does not own production boundaries in the way an SRE role would, and it is not an on-call or incident management/coordination position. It is also distinct from a traditional product QA role. Your focus will primarily be on:

  • Infrastructure changes, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), environments, and pipelines
  • System behaviour under failure, stress, and degraded conditions
  • Deployment orchestration, release safety, and rollback capability

What You Will Do

  • Lead on designing and implementing pragmatic testing approaches and quality gates for infrastructure and platform changes
  • Validate deployment workflows end-to-end, including:
  • CI/CD pipeline behaviour
  • IAC release promotion (sandbox -> dev -> internal QA -> staging -> prod)
  • IAC version and software version compatibility
  • Rollback and recovery mechanisms
  • Coach engineers and SREs around making sure platform changes are:
  • Deployable with confidence (repeatable, reliable releases)
  • Observable (clear signals via logs, metrics, and alerts)
  • Resilient under failure conditions
  • Identify and test failure scenarios and edge cases, such as:
  • Pipeline failures or partial deployments
  • Misconfiguration of infrastructure or environments
  • Service degradation or dependency failures
  • Perform exploratory testing of infrastructure changes, focusing on:
  • Deployment risks
  • Integration points between services and environments
  • Configuration drift and inconsistencies
  • Build and improve automated validation for infrastructure and platform behaviour, including checks within or alongside pipelines where appropriate
  • Clearly identify and communicate risks and trade-offs associated with infrastructure changes, enabling informed release decisions
  • Lead on evolving quality practices for the platform, defining how infrastructure changes are validated as the system scales
  • Mentor and coach junior QA Engineers, and Infra Engineers around best practices for QA

About you

  • Significant experience owning quality assurance for infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with infrastructure quality as a core area of expertise.
  • A strong understanding of risk-based testing, with the judgement to make pragmatic quality trade-offs based on risk, impact, and release confidence.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces, defining an approach where one may not already exist.
  • Proven experience defining and evolving infrastructure testing strategies, introducing appropriate tooling and practices, and building confidence in complex deployment and release processes.
  • Confidence collaborating closely with engineers, challenging assumptions and influencing technical decisions to improve quality, reliability, and testability.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, with a good understanding of the quality considerations associated with cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and GitHub, particularly around CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure changes, and deployment workflows.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to identify and articulate technical and quality risks clearly to support informed decision-making.
  • A desire to coach and mentor QA Engineers, sharing expertise and helping others develop their technical and quality engineering capabilities.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with performance or load testing
  • Experience working closely with SRE or Platform teams
  • Experience with Internal Developer Platforms
  • Exposure to monitoring/observability tools

What You’ll Get

  • Starting salary between £47,500 and £57,500 depending on experience
  • At least £1,000 per year to spend on professional and personal development
  • 33 days' holiday per year (including bank holidays), increasing by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days
  • Paid four-week sabbatical in your fifth anniversary year on top of your holiday entitlement
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Private healthcare and rewards through AXA
  • Income protection and death in service cover
  • Matched 5% auto-enrolment workplace pension scheme
  • Access to wellbeing offerings, such as our Employee Assistance Programme and a dedicated counselling service
  • Volunteering time – up to 20 hours a year to participate in volunteer work
  • Regular All Hands meeting for inspiration and over-communication
  • Time out of the working week for team socials each month, with a mix of in-person and virtual options: past events include hiking, family BBQs, board games and at-home cocktail classes!
  • Genuinely nice, smart people to work with, who are excited about growing our company

Working Details

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week). We typically work from 09:00 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday, though we can be flexible around this, just let us know.

We’re ideally looking for someone in/around Edinburgh, able to work on a hybrid basis between home and our Haymarket office. We don't mandate required office days, but we find that most of the team enjoy working from the office 2-3 days a week to connect with their team and other Dayshapers and to make use of space, and for meetings and collaboration. We are open to considering remote for the right candidate, as long as you are based in the UK.

Join the team!

Equality of opportunity is more than just a responsibility: we believe it’s a huge advantage to welcome a variety of experiences and perspectives into the team. Diversity is a great asset and, as such, we strongly encourage applications from any background.

This is your opportunity to really influence how we get things done, and how our product develops to meet our customer’s needs. We're doing well, but there's lots more to do in order to maintain the high bar and pace that we've set.

If your experience isn't an exact match for this job description, but you have transferrable skills/experience that you think would be a great fit, please outline this in a cover letter. Everyone here is growing personally as the company grows, so if that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to see your application.

*Please note the successful candidate for this role will be subject to background checks and will have an opportunity to declare anything to us beforehand*

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
