Immediately Hiring: Environmental Test Engineer I

Company: DAYTON-GRANGER, INC (DG)

Industry: Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315, On-Site (Monday–Friday)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent,

About Us: YouTube - DAYTON-GRANGER, INC (DG)

Competitive Pay, Great Benefits, Work-Life Balance, Stability, Opportunities for Growth

Position Overview:

DAYTON-GRANGER, INC. (DG) is a third-generation family-owned aerospace manufacturer in Fort Lauderdale, FL that has been proudly operating for almost 83 years. We design, test, and manufacture aircraft antennas, electrostatic dischargers, and lightning protection components used on commercial, military, and private aircraft around the world. We have an average employee tenure of 8 years, reflecting our stability and strong company culture. See more about our benefits and why DG is a great place to work below.

As an Environmental Test Engineer I, you’ll build hands-on experience in aerospace testing and qualification while working directly in DG’s environmental test lab. Rather than focusing on traditional product design, you’ll learn to operate specialized equipment that puts aerospace products through real-world environmental conditions - including vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, altitude, fluid exposure, and more - to evaluate how they perform. You’ll set up and conduct tests, collect and document data, identify and communicate issues or failures to the engineering team, and progressively take greater ownership of the lab and its testing activities. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer who is technically curious, enjoys hands-on problem solving, and wants to build a specialized career in aerospace testing. DG will provide training on our equipment, qualification processes, and applicable aerospace testing standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and progressively perform in-house environmental and qualification testing on aerospace antennas, lightning arrestors, dischargers, and related products.
  • Learn to operate DG environmental test equipment used for temperature, humidity, altitude and decompression, vibration, shock, waterproofness and fluid susceptibility, immersion, salt fog, icing, environmental stress screening, resonance searches, and production verification testing.
  • Set up test articles, instrumentation, fixtures, chambers, sensors, data-acquisition equipment, and supporting hardware under the direction of experienced engineering personnel.
  • Review engineering drawings, customer specifications, qualification plans, test procedures, and compliance requirements before testing.
  • Record test conditions, equipment settings, observations, photographs, measurements, anomalies, and results accurately and completely.
  • Support engineering investigations when products fail environmental, production, or qualification testing, helping identify whether failures are related to product design, workmanship, fixtures, equipment, instrumentation, test setup, or test procedure.
  • Provide regular test-status updates and promptly communicate failures, anomalies, equipment problems, and schedule risks to engineering leadership.
  • Assist with the preparation and revision of engineering and qualification documentation, including test procedures, test reports, compliance documentation, and engineering evaluation reports.
  • Verify calibration status of environmental test equipment, sensors, and instrumentation, and help maintain an organized, clean, and safe environmental test laboratory.
  • Assist with testing performed by outside laboratories when DG does not have the required in-house capability, including occasional travel to support testing and data collection.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by management
  • Follow all Dayton-Granger safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, engineering materials, instrumentation, data collection, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work directly with laboratory equipment and test articles.
  • Ability to document work accurately and follow controlled procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic engineering documentation systems.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to outside testing laboratories as needed, typically 1–3 trips per year, ranging from 1 day to 1 week per trip.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have, Not Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, quality, or testing internship experience preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen, in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
