The posting

The Big Walnut Local School District seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as Elementary School Principal (grades K-4) at Hylen Souders Elementary beginning in the 2022/2023 school year. This is a 215-day position with administrative benefits. The candidate should possess successful administrative experience, a thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, supervision, community, and an ability to lead adults in continuous improvement efforts. Specifically, in addition to effective managerial skills, we seek a candidate who demonstrates:

  • Ability to lead a professional learning community to meet the needs of every student
  • Strong understanding of research-based best practices
  • Knowledge of curriculum that meets the needs of students for the 21st Century
  • Skills consistent with the state Principal Standards (a copy of the Standards can be found at http://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topics/Teaching/Educator-Equity/Ohio-s-Educator-Standards/StandardsPrincipals_sept07.pdf.aspx )
  • Trained in or willing to be trained in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System - including experience with classroom walk-throughs and knowledge of student growth measures
  • Strategies to engage, communicate, and build rapport with students and parents
  • Ability to lead the district vision and build an environment of continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or higher in Educational Administration
  • Valid State of Ohio administrative licensure
  • Experience in classroom and administration
