The posting

The Opportunity

A leading global investment bank is looking for a Structured Credit Middle Office professional to join its Operations function. You will provide trade management and first-line support to the Exotic Credit trading and structuring desks. The role is central to the trading activity of the desks it supports and offers broad exposure to complex structured products, senior Front Office stakeholders and teams across the bank's global network.

About the Team

The Structured Credit Middle Office (SCMO) works directly with the Structured Credit & Funding, ABS Solutions, Hybrids and Portfolio Restructuring trading desks. The team interacts daily with a wide range of internal functions, including Trading, Structuring, Sales, Operations, Product Control, Model Validation, Quantitative Analytics and Risk Management.

The business trades a full suite of structured products, including credit-linked notes (CLNs), structured financing repos and loans, and other credit derivatives, together with the associated hedges (bonds, CDS, credit indices, futures and swaps).

Key Responsibilities

Trade Management and Lifecycle

  • Review Front Office trade bookings against term sheets and trade blotters to make sure they are accurate and complete.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of exotic product booking processes, valuation models and how they interact downstream with confirmation and settlement systems.
  • Manage the full trade lifecycle, including call events and triggers, structured note issuance and complex cashflow management.
  • Work closely with support functions (documentation, settlements, valuations, collateral management and reconciliations) to provide end-to-end operational support to the Front Office.

P&L and Reporting

  • Produce the T0 P&L flash, including risk-based P&L attribution and clear commentary.
  • Prepare and review daily trading activity reports for the desks and senior stakeholders.

Controls and Governance

  • Design and maintain controls and governance frameworks suited to the bespoke nature of the structured business.
  • Identify and close control gaps proactively and escalate issues promptly and clearly.

Stakeholders and Change

  • Build strong working relationships with senior traders, offshore teams, business managers, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management and other stakeholders.
  • Look for ways to improve processes and systems and coordinate across departments and regions to deliver enhancements

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Hands on experience with SPVs, repackaging and structured notes.
  • Experience of T+1 trade validation against trade recaps, current market pricing and other independent sources.
  • Lifecycle management experience across repos (including structured repos), CLNs, CLOs and SPVs.
  • The ability to manage a high volume of bespoke queries and to understand where in the trade lifecycle these issues originate.
  • Good knowledge of exotic derivative products, including booking and documentation.
  • Sound understanding of the controls required throughout the trade lifecycle.
  • A control mindset and a good understanding of operational risk.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Organised and self-directed, taking ownership of their own time and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred

  • A keen interest in AI tools, ideally with examples of using them to improve processes or productivity.

Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the clients' offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our clients' policies and expectations are and these vary. However, some of our clients have now moved up to 4 days and even 5 days in the office and we require candidates to be flexible to meet our client demands.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
