Director, Theatrical Client Services

Description

Job Description: Director, Theatrical Client Services

Location of Role: Burbank, California

Own the studio relationship. Lead the team. Deliver excellence from script to screen.

Job Summary

Every theatrical release has a story behind the story: the subtitle files, masters and digital cinema packages that have to land perfectly, on time, in cinemas around the world. As Director, Theatrical Client Services, you'll own that story for one of Deluxe's key US studio partners.

This is a rare opportunity to bring Cinema and Subtitling together under one leader. You'll be the studio's trusted voice, running day-to-day order management. From scripting and subtitle creation through mastering and distribution, you'll make sure every title reaches the screen exactly as the studio intended.

You'll lead a talented team of client-facing associates and partner with Operations, Localization, Scheduling and Technical teams across Deluxe. When release dates are on the line, you'll be the calm in the chaos: spotting risks early, solving problems fast and keeping everyone aligned. You'll bring the mastering, distribution and localization know-how to talk technical detail with confidence, whether that's in a team huddle or a high-profile meeting with the studio.

If you thrive on pace, love the buzz of a big release and want to shape how a major studio experiences Deluxe, this is your moment. Given the release-driven nature of the work, flexible working hours are a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Studio Partnership & Client Experience

  • Serve as the senior day-to-day point of contact for the studio across Cinema and Subtitling services, keeping the client informed, engaged and confident
  • Partner with the SVP, Client Services and relevant leads to identify and collaborate on opportunities to grow client satisfaction and account success
  • Host continuous improvement conversations with the studio to understand their evolving needs, confirming our teams and workflows will meet those needs efficiently and holistically
  • Represent Deluxe in high-profile client meetings, providing detailed title and line-level information

Title Ownership & Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the studio's theatrical titles, from scripting, subtitling and localization through mastering and digital cinema distribution
  • Align creative, technical, localization and operations teams to keep workflows smooth and blockers cleared
  • Flag risks early, troubleshoot issues and drive solutions to protect release dates
  • Advocate for quality across subtitling, mastering and QC
  • Initiate and manage the successful execution of high-level projects utilizing available resources, with an understanding of when to raise headcount needs

Operations, Systems & Commercials

  • Improve operational efficiency of Client Service Representative (CSR) and title management workflows in partnership with Operations, Scheduling and Technical teams, streamlining handoffs and balancing speed with precision
  • Ensure order management and scheduling systems reflect reality: accurate, up to date and reliable
  • Manage client billing across Cinema and Subtitling services, ensuring the studio is billed accurately, completely and on time
  • Forecast volumes and resourcing against the studio's release slate
  • Attend and participate in task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a high level of knowledge of new developments, requirements and policies

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage a team of dedicated client-facing associates, with occasional oversight of contingent workforce as needed
  • Coach team and individual performance to foster continuous growth and development
  • Own learning and development across the team, including cross-skilling between Cinema and Subtitling workflows

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience working within a busy, deadline-driven client environment, including management of direct reports
  • Proven track record of leading large, high-profile projects from inception to completion, with tight timelines and high stakes
  • Knowledge of digital cinema mastering and distribution technologies, client ordering workflows and project management
  • Working knowledge of subtitling and localization workflows
  • An understanding of end-to-end theatrical workflows and how they connect
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to see the big picture and nail the details
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to handle complex employee situations in a professional manner
  • Positive role model to the team with the ability to encourage individuals to excel
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities while remaining fully in control
  • Collaborative mindset and great relationship skills: warm, sincere, approachable and able to build trust across teams
  • Professional, driven and solutions focused; calm under pressure
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of clients within film, broadcast and media platforms
  • Experience in title management, post-production or localization a plus

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
