Desjardins is looking to recruit successful applicants into our Toronto office for our National Accounts Ontario Banking business. The successful candidate will gain technical training and hands-on corporate finance experience across a variety of transactions. This program provides the Summer Analyst with the opportunity to enhance their professional profile by gaining insightful market knowledge, develop important industry contacts, and gain clarity on how National Accounts Ontario fits into the broader corporate finance platform at Desjardins.

The Summer Analyst position is designed to introduce undergraduates and/or recent graduates to the dynamic and challenging career of Corporate Finance, involving debt financed transactions with small public and large private corporations across different industries. The successful candidate will enjoy exposure to a broad range of assignments encompassing credit and financial analysis through annual loan reviews, new credit applications and preparation of new debt financing proposals.

Providing a solid understanding: You will receive end-of-summer reviews as well as constructive feedback from your business manager throughout your placement. Great care and resources have been devoted to ensuring that at the end of the summer you have a solid understanding of the elements necessary for a successful career in Corporate Finance.

Benefits: You will have the benefit of working alongside some of the best in the business. Our program will provide a better understanding of how the business line interacts, operates and fits together within Desjardins. ✓ Develop a broad understanding of the Corporate Finance business through exposure to several industry sectors. ✓ Develop a solid set of credit and financial analysis skills, and a deep understanding of the Canadian loan syndicated market.

We are looking for highly dynamic and engaged individuals with the energy, enthusiasm and capacity to work in a fast-paced and stimulating environment. Successful candidates are selected based on their academic excellence, relevant work experience, market knowledge and strong communication skills. You need to be confident in your personal capabilities but willing to learn and do what it takes to complete a task.

Each candidate will be evaluated on their individual merit. Academic background in business or finance is a prerequisite. Candidates must be recent graduates or entering the final year of their undergraduate program in the Fall of 2027. • Establish and maintain various databases designed to assist with both credit analysis/approval and new client/business development activities
  • Prepare pitch books to support new client business and for internal presentation purposes
  • Perform Ad hoc responsibilities to be determined on an ongoing basis

What you bring to the table:

  • Recent graduate or undergraduate degree to be completed by the Spring term of the following year
  • Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Clearly defined interest in Corporate Finance and financial services
  • Quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • Please submit your most recent transcript, cover letter and resume

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
